Some more possible internet rumours but post the Daytona 24 hour Motorsport race in the USA a high-ranked Porsche Motorsport executive has provided some informations on the 991 GT3.
The racer would be driven by (9A1) 4.0-litre engine pushing 480 horsepower mated to a new PDK-S gearbox, so no more GT1 engine block.
"Wolfgang said Porsche won't put the PDK in the GT3 unless they can find a way to reduce the weight enough. I think the PDK-S could be the solution".
The 991 GT3 could also benefit from an approximative mass reduction of 180 to 200 pounds resulting from the use of composites.
The car would not use hybrid technology and would have a longer wheelbase of about 100 millimeters.
Still the yet to be confirmed GT3 RS LE (with 4.0 RSR motor)..
991 GT3 is due in 2014.
