The same spec Carrera S was £89,631 approx so a saving of £10,000 and a wide body car. What would your ideal spec be.

I have tried and they said it wasn't possible yet. as no details on it, just wanted to take my £5k deposit.

I won't say what they offered for my car :gunfire:

Oh, this is fun:

Speed Yellow - £ 0.00 [actually I'd probably spec special order Signal Yellow if they'd allow it]

Dark Grey Leather interior in natural leather - £ 2,841.00 [very nice with yellow exterior I think]

Rear wiper - £ 230.00

Windscreen with grey top tint - £ 67.00

Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) - £ 2,472.00
Sport Chrono Package Plus - £ 816.00

19-inch Carrera Sport wheel - £ 0.00 [don't like that centre lock malarkey!]

Surely you can PTS the GTS?

£2,774 - any colour you like

is this GTS special edition a desperate attempt to shift stock before the biggest 911 revolution since the 996 was revealed in 1997 ?

Erm, minimum £13k of free options and some (sort of) unique body styling and "decals".

Hell, Ford and Vauxhall have been doing it (cheaper) for years.

all since VW took control :pc:

so watch out for the all white Porsche 911 'Match' Special Edition

but in all seriousness, this must be awful for regular model depreciation

Anyone with an X51 has done their conkers (the cooking models registered near GTS launch will fair little better).

In May 2000 Porsche realigned the prices by circa 10% (circa £10k on the top models).

Some customers who bought in the weeks and months before and complained received a bunch of flowers as compensation.

what doesnt make sense, was the Sport Classic was over priced by a mile, so wasnt a factor but this is actually cheaper and almost the same as the SC :dont know: :dont know: :dont know:

did a ducktail and bubble roof really cost that much to develop :dont know: :dont know:

The price has little to do with "development" costs. Firstly they can photocopy the 2.7 RS DT at 125% and second at least three low-volume US GRP styling houses have clone DTs at approx £2.5-3k.

As for uses of the 997-shell stock-pile, see here (my favourite model is the one with the Mach3/Quattro blade fixed wing):

Did they use all the Double bubble roof shells too?

The word was you never ever saw a Porsche bonus or Porsche Roland Garros. :pc:
If your listening VW / Porsche and you do read the forums,,, :x :pc:

The SportClassics were all hand tailored with leather covered everything out of the special wish department at Werk 1 though (which is also the case with the newly announced Speedster), whereas the GTS will just roll off the standard production line. The premium is in the labour-intensive construction and the simple fact that Porsche have a subset of devotees sufficiently wealthy that they pretty much don't care what it costs.

If you think about it objectively, they are just catering to all sectors of their customers. If there are buyers for it then it doesn't really matter whether peons such those of us that hang out here can see the value in the premium...
