Hi all,

After much consideration, hesitation, search, more hesitation... after considering almost every alternative out there.. from Cayman S, to E90 M3s... i finally set my heart on a 997 C2S.. and went for it. My first Porsche.

So here she is :

Atlas Grey Dec 2005 997 C2S with 22k miles.
Carrera Classics
Sat Nav
Full grey leather
Bose Sound system
Park Assist
Sunroof
Trackstar

I put a 1y warranty on it.. for piece of mind...
It's not the perfect spec, but it ticked the right boxes for me... I am planning to add the bluetooth/ipod kit from JMZ very soon and have G. work his magic on its body, it's relatively well kept but it could definitely do with a bit of love as the valeting has left its marks.

Sound-wise... definitely porsche.. but probably not enough so.. love the variocam above 6,000 rpm.. but doesn't happen that frequently on open roads.. so PSE could be an option.. but it's definitely an expensive one for no added performance.

I spent a little bit of time with her yesterday on some quite nice roads in the cambridgeshire and was blown away by the traction even on greasy roads. Really impressed. The front end is a bit more wobbly.. will have to explore a little bit more in a "safer" environment.. i booked a track day at bedford next saturday (11th), should be fun.

Ok enough for now.. keen to know your impressions and thoughts..

Richard

Nice :thumb: Atlas is such a lovely colour and rather rare.

I searched for months trying to buy a low mileage 997C4S cab in atlas but could not find the car anywhere. Seal was the next choice/purchase and in the last 4 months I still have not seen a nice/well spec'd 997C4S cab in atlas for sale at decent money.

When an atlas car is polished up it looks incredible

Looking good - :thumb:

Love Atlas Grey...

Welcome to the club and enjoy your lovely car.

At a glance, look remarkably like my '09/59 C2!!

As you say, loads of traction, needs a little consideration on moist roads though. Throttle finesse maens everything to a 911 doesn't it? :?:

Enjoy!

A great car, good spec and a nice colour!

Welcome

and... my first track day at Bedford yesterday. Very nice day indeed, cold but sunny, perfect conditions. 80 cars in total, 40 at the same time on the GT version of the track.. at times a little crowded but very very fun nonetheless and very good to explore a little more the limits of my c2s.. have to drive it very very cleanly and it certainly rewards you.. if not understeer is abundant :hand:

Here's a couple of pics just to celebrate.. with also a little loan visit for the great pleasure of my instructor :worship:

Slowly but steadily getting to know her...

And... question for you on the brakes.. my car is a dec 2005 with 22k miles on it.. to give you an idea the front tires have never been changed (still have 4-5k in them if driven at the same pace...).

Brakes have never been changed, not even at last major service, so same discs and pads... my question is.. being my first porke... how should the pedal feel.. because it's not exactly rock solid feeling i was expecting from a 911. Shall i dare to say that it's a little mushy ?

as for power.. on the track i didn't exactly feel short handed.. when actually on the brakes, power was there and i could definitely feel it.. but feeling is muted..

:?:

Mushy! mine certainly do not feel mushy, firm and prodigious yes. Did they go mushy whilst on track, or generally. Track use if hard on them will alter the warmer they get and they can start to fade.

I find the brakes in normal use excellent, unlike my company car (humble but capable Mundano) which although good, feel very sharp but spongy in comparison.

I am sure the track stars here :worship: will offer you the solution soon.
