996TT For Sale - Anyone know this car?

I'm a bit surprised on the price given it has no PCM. Good amount of miles though.

The Ruf sticker on the side, may mean it has had some work done.

£44K would have been good money for it.

I was under the impression that PCM (particularly PCM I, which I think this car would have on a 51 reg) was rubbish. CDROM based rather than DVD and could no longer be updated. I am happy to purchase a Tom Tom
Also I don't think I could be bothere to keep slotting my SIM card in and out to use the phone.

Why do you say that about the RUF stickers? The chap just said he thought they might look cool, so applied them. It has no actual RUF upgrades. Although he asures me the stickers add an extra 25bhp 8)

So is it not sold?

If not, its silver (the most common TT colour), has no PCM ( PCM 1 imight not ne the best doesnt but it generally attracts a premium. (and you dont need to keep removing your sim, just use a pay as you go sim and divert and undivert your phone as necessary)

No Ruf upgrades but Ruf stickers, at least you can have them removed easily.

It is on hold for me pending the OPC Inspection.

I was just making a last ditch attempt at making sure it is not a Lemon by posting on here.

Not sure I like the way you said it is the most common TT colour :(

Horses for courses, I guess but there are more silver 996 tts out there than anything else. Colour shouldnt be a deciding factor in reality especiallly when its a safe colour (as opposed to a red or yellow one for instance).

Sounds good in the description with good milage, 44k sounds a good starting point but 48k is over the top.

No PCM and the colour (to a lesser extent will have some effect on resale.

Agree - if you could get this for £44-45K it would be a good deal. The comment about the Ruf was more than it could have some of the engine upgrades - I would check this with a Porsche specialist. Maybe a good thing as Ruf can do wonders with the 996TT!

Thanks for your info guys.

I asked the guy straight away whether it had been to RUF, since that would be a bonus for me but the seller insisted it hadn't. Still seemed plenty quick though when I test drove it.

I have negotiated a price lower than £44k so lets see what the inspection holds on Thursday. Fingers crossed.

That sounds like you could have a good deal then.

Good luck

Hi,

IMHO lack of PCM 1 is a not a deal breaker for that matter nor is PCM2. No updates lack of bluetooth and iPOD with the older technology for map storage rather than hard drive or solid state.

With the speed of ICE technology, ( A very fast moving market area over the last 24 months), I will anticipate that in 6-12 months there will be in-car wireless internet as standard and a host of connections running on a windows based system in this country. This is already available in Japan.

Porsche had better look at their OEM partners and get some updated technology installed or the aftermarket volume sales will cetainly take over. So the premium it once had will no longer be justified. Human nature wanting the latest tech and all that. Just my thoughts.

Alan.
