Insurance in place (expensive!!), Now for the delivery early next week. Counting the hours now. Unbelievable. I am planning to take it easy for a while. Child seat hunt looks promising as mamas and papas brand seat looks it might fit nicely. May be old maxicosi seat also fits but not going to put my little one in the front seat even with airbag off.
So, finally I have never been so excited for a while! My wife thinks I have gone mad. I think it is one of the best decisions I have taken in my life. My little boy can tell his friends when he is grown up that he went to nursery in a porsche. By this time obviously the green lobby would have banned all cars which are more than 1.2 litres and road pricing will be truly in place making fun drive prohibitive. We can all gloat how we enjoyed true cars!

Hi Vishal - welcome. I am new here myself having been into 996 ownership for 11 days now! This might be a bit late to tell you, but I insured my car with my existing insurer (do you already have a car in the home?) and they gave me an immediate 5 years ncb because I already have 8 years ncb on my first car with them. It brought the Insurance down to under £1000 (mileage limited to 6k pa) which I thought was reasonable for a 2003 Targa. You might be able to do the same if you haven't already done so.

Clearly there are regional differences, garaging etc, also I don't know how old you are, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Insurance on my C4S...

About £550, unlimited mileage, garaged, full ncb, PCGB member, me 33yrs old. Thats with Adrian Flux. This compared to £950 for my previous Alpina BMW B3S Convertible.

Have you tried shopping around with some specialists? You should have a 10 day cooling-off period. Heard good things about A Manning, A plan as well.

Also worth joining the PCGB as you may get a reduction in your premium.

Congrats on the new purchase, you'll love it.

As the others say on Insurance it's always worth shopping around, you will find some real surprises out there. To be honest I was amazed, swapped a 6 1/2 yr old 320CLK for an 18 month old GT3 and the Insurance came down, go figure!

Thanks for that. I will continue the search for THAT premium.

I was with esure who obviusly do not like porsche. Shame.

Is there a website for PCGB?

Most insurers will quote you up as if you were a club member, but you will need to forward them a membership number asap, i.e. you can get covered, and join the pcgb after as their paperwork takes a little while to come through.

£550 fully comp on a C4S for unlimited mileage? Gosh!! Where do you live, Robertb? I am 39 and mine was £820 for a Targa, protected, for 6k miles even though it has alarm/immob/tracker and is garaged and only comes out on wk ends! I live in London....maybe that's the reason but still a huge difference for a car that is lower down the 996 range. :?
