Bad day at the office ...

Well actually bad day in the Porsche :(
on the way to the office.

Pulled away from a roundabout too quickly in the rain and the car span round. Fortunately didn't hit anyone but did what the curb and has made a bit if mess of one of the rear Fuchs wheels. No other damage thankfully. Only ordered new tyres earlier this week as well - meant to be fitted on Friday!!! PANTS.

Anyone know if I can get the wheel refurbished or is that just a stupid idea as well as a potentially dangerous one. If not, any recomendations about where to buy and roughly how much I might be expecting to pay for one would be really gratefully received.

Thanks ... off to drown sorrows ! (Any excuse!!!)

Sorry to hear that Genn. Hope you get is sorted out soon without too much expense. I'd say as long as the wheel isn't buckled you'd be able to get it repaired. They are plenty of companied specialising in this service. I used these guys once with great results. Cost about £70. Good luck

Jasmine will only send it out to someone else - Biaggio is the man - I'll try and find his details - he's based near Northampton somewhere.

I'll see if I can find his details on DDK - only problem is, I know he's not quick :roll:

You might want to pick one up off eBay to use for a while - then sell it on when the original's been repaired.

Bad luck - at least it was only one wheel :)

Cheers everyone. I'll give wicked wheels a go to start with 'cos at least they are mobile. I've also got my eye on the dreaded ebay but got to check my wheel sizes first etc etc.

I think this has been a lesson in making sure that I keep appropriate tyre tread depth especially during the winter. Is the car known for being a bit over-powered in the rear end or - and I think I know the answer to this - was it entirely driver error :oops:
? Honest views very welcome.

We've all done it - a friend was following me a couple of years ago - through a town centre and onto a motorway section - as I joined the motorway I couldn't see his headlights, so I slowed down - after five minutes my mobile rang "er, I've had a bit of a bump!"

Hi came off a roundabout, hit the gas to join the motorway, caught some diesel which had been covered with very heavy rain and the 911 did what 911's do - round twice and into the Armco - he walked away and the damage was only about £5k.

911's break away VERY suddenly when they loose traction on the back - it happens - don't beat yourself up over it - at least you were ok and the car (mostly) undamaged - I've personally developed two driving styles - one for winter and one for summer :D

Why not go and do a trackday when the weather's bad? You get to learn all sorts of 'clues' from the car before the back breaks away - it's a safe place to experiment and learn these signs so you're more prepared for the road.
