Do you mean from '02 onwards Glenn? The Mother-in-law has an '03 C2 cab and that has it.

There is a company that makes these little boxes that allows you to do it on earlier cars, but i'm pretty sure i'm correct, as Porsche made a big deal about it when the C4S and TT Cabs came out, and one of the features i was looking forward to...

They said they only put it on the wide body cabs, as they had more structural bracing in the chassis than the narrow body cabs, so felt that this made it safe enough to do so....

In terms of the interior, the facelift 996's picked up the PCM2 system, which has larger screen for the sat nav and lost the casette player. PCM2 also doesn't need a sim card holder. PCM 2 still used CD's for the maps.

However the early facelifts (MY02) and maybe MY03 had a PCM 1 system which had the cassette player and needed the sim card adaptor. CD Map updates are no longer available for PCM 1 systems from pre-facelift 996's, however I believe that if you have PCM 1 in a facelift 996 it has upgraded capability and you can still get maps.

I put a separate post about this exact question, so if anyone has an opinion please take a look at that post and see what you think. I have a facelift C4 MY02, so I've been taking an intrest.

Hi All, I am new to the forum and new to Porsche. I am looking for a 996 and was very interested in this post.

I have a few questions which I hope some of you can help clear up for me.

What is the difference in appearance of the pre- and post face-lift lights. You mentioned Turbo lights, but what difference are they? Similarly the front bumper? Are the pre and post facelift versions obvious to the eye?

A pre-facelift has lights and standard front PU (bumper) that look like this:
