Driving an 1969 911 to China

Top gear coverage would be awesome

remember jeremy clarckson wrecking a 73 911? that was hurtfull to see...

I think we could fill up a whole chunnel train with porsches

We definately have the time to make this pretty big, i'm all for it for sure! There's a guy i know who organizes a rally with 50 citroen 2cv's from brussels to benin, it's a great succes, so i don't see why our little trip couldn't become something more than 'just' a trip with two buddies.

The car is at the painter's since a few days, and it starts to show some progress. They have welded in some pieces of metal at the sides, where the battery acid ate into the body and suspension pan. The middle part of the front suspension beam was also reinforced. Next up is the welding of the upper plate, and protect it all from new rust.

They have sanded off all of the rust-protector we put on (it's a good thing we did this anyway, because the car was barenaked for 3 months...), and started to do some prepping: some masking has been done, and the dents are being filled out, and they are starting to paint it with a filler-primer. The bottom corners just under the front windshiled area have gotten a layer of tin, to make it fit well with the two front wings.

Last weekend we had a stand on the Collection Car exposition in Flanders Expo in Ghent.

We had a really good time with our hosts Tommy and Pascal who were kind enough to give us a spot on their stand! Thanks guys. We met a lot of people (it was very busy), and there was quite some interest in our adventure. Some good friends of us dropped by too. The stand was very nice, with checkered 'racing flag' floor mats, and some hay for a bit of an offroad look :)

Sunday night the expo finished and we were knackered, but we still had to bring the car back home. So i went on a ride with the towtruck, and it's superfriendly driver, and cruised with the naked car on the back all the way through the medieval center of Ghent, with a lot of looks from everyone. :) In the meanwhile, Erwin was taking the green 914 back to the garage, and needless to say he had a blast too!

Until the next expo!
cheers, Jan & Erwin

Our car is almost finished!

We gotta mount the decoration strips underneath the doors, and do some little things to get it 100% done.

It's already rolling thus, and we went out for our first ride in 7 months, and it was absolutely fantastic. Anybody know the beavis and butthead-laugh? Well, that was the sound we made when driving this car! :) It pulls very good, it feels very responsive, it's like this car is on rails. Amazing experience! :)

What's the plan for the "prologue"?

I thought the absence of the screen was part of the climate control! :p

Photoshoot @ Sugarfactory

So we went out with our freshly restored Porsche, and with our good friend and photographer Nick to take some nice pictures of both the Porsche and Erwin's BMW. The weather wasn't very good at first, but we got a little sunshine in the end. The photos turned out great!

We also made this little video clip from the Porsche. Enjoy, as we did! :)
