Yesterday a very kind PCGB member gave up their time to let me have a look and ride in their 964 RS lightweight, impressed am I, what a sensational car the looks (so much slimmer than my 997 S and looks better for it) the ride, handling and that great sound and even as a passenger you felt connected to the car.

A big thank you to the owner and I now know what my next porshe is, offers for the 997 please.

Have you had a ride in a 993RS? interesting to compare the two. The 964 is more hardcore I would imagine. So are you on a search now?

I looked at a lovely 964 RS a few years back at Shirleys Porsche- it was an original Lightweight, 2 owners, (1st being a racing driver with Le Mans history) 18k miles, immaculate. It was a RHD car, they were asking £32k for it, before enthusiasts 'caught on' to them. I didn't drive it, but it sounded utterly fantastic.

I reckon I could have made a tidy packet by now and had some fun, if only I'd followed my instinct!

What was the performance comparison with your 997?

No I have not had a ride in a 993 RS but my criteria is something special around the 30k mark with hardly any depreciation to worry about which puts the 993 RS off the list.

I could buy a 993 Carera and tweak it etc but it would be money spent not recoverable on resale, and yes I am on the search now as it could take a while but still to sell the 997.

would leave my tiptronic behind but not by much, I ask myself regarding speed what has happend over the last 14 years if a car of that age can beat my modern car and cost 35k less and ultimately give more pleasure.

The 964 RS in question was putting out 292 bhp with only remapping and weighed 1200 kg with a new exhaust and it flew with near GT3 performance, we went on A,B&C roads and on the C roads doing very fast speeds the rear wheels were'nt the only thing twitching, but it stuck to the road brilliantly and as you can tell I am rather impressed.
