Oil in Water Coolant Boxster S

it may be the oil cooler mixing the oil with water which sits on top of the engine on 986/996 and 9x7 cars

Oil and water mixing together in a water cooled car is a very bad thing.

Get it checked out ASAP.

If it really is engine oil in your expansion tank then don't run the engine any more than you can help - other than driving straight to your favourite garage.

Engine oil in your expansion tank could just as easily mean water in the cylinder(s) and water doesn't compress! A none too uncommon occurence.

As others have said your next journey should be to an OPC/Specialist.

We have heard too many sad stories of blown engines as a result of this type of problem.
