997 C4S road test

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Apart from maintaining a high coefficient of friction, even under extreme conditions, the PCCB brake discs are around 50 per cent lighter than conventional metal discs, with consequent benefits in terms of handling, agility and fuel economy. Moreover, ceramic discs are, says SGL, '…designed to last the lifetime of a car'.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is that true, you dont ever need to replace discs if you take the ceramic option?

No it isnt true,

You buy ceramics because you do track days, 20 or so hard track days the brakes are shot and at £3k a corner £12k total to replace very expensive.

Many track days car owners are now buying steel disks for the track days and keeping the ceramics for road use.

Defeating the object I guess.

Daz.
