Has anybody recently sourced brake discs for the 993. Would like to know best price and if they do mail order.

Thanks

William

I was recommended by my local porsche specialist that there are some discs made by the manufacturer who makes the OE parts for Porsche. They seemed quite cheap to me when I asked. Worked out at £160 fitted inc vat for some front discs. Dunno how that compares to others but seemed fair when skimming the discs in situ cost about £120 inc.

If you're interested let me know and I'll find out who it was as it has slipped my mind.

Regards

Robert.

The OE parts are made by Zimmerman I believe. BTW the OE parts come with painted hats where as the Zimmerman sourced ones do not.

Hi William,

I happen to have a pair of brand new, still in the box, Zimmermann front discs for a 993.supplied by the porscheshop; which are surpless to requirements. I bought them and then sold the car before I had a chance to fit them.

Make me an offer.

I'm in Sussex, but am happy to post them

Mark

What bit is the hat? Can you paint it yourself? Pardon my ignorance...

Yes you can paint them.

See "Painting Rotor Hats" in the Air/Oil Cooled (993) section of the RENNLIST forum.

It's the bit that the wheel bolts to (ie the center that protudes from the disk). Best way to imagine - if you took the parts and laid them on a bench the disk would resemble the rim of a hat and the center part would resemble the hat.
