the two engines are very diff to look at - the vario ram has some blk plastic tubes running over the top middle of the engine - difficult to describe, but Peter morgans buyers guide book shows the two examples side by side - very usefull.

Vario definitely looks tastier. Handbook should reflect the difference too.

A Vario car would also be a 96 MY car, so would be reflected in the chassis number - essential bit of checking/research).

Is it a Carrera 2 S or a Carrera 2 Tiptronic S?

Carrera 2 S is the wide body model (turbo) but with C2 guts. Tiptronic S refers only to the fact that the Tiptonic operation is on the (S)teering wheel but it is the narrower body C2. The C2S is more sought after and more expensive, and I'm sure only came out post Varioram but I could be mistaken.

CHASSIS NUMBER : 10TH LETTER T/V/W ONLY 96/97/98=Varioram

Also they did not make a 2S in 1995

varioram was introduced for MY 1996, which would have started in sept. 1995, so maybe...depends if it was leftover stock or whatnot
