I'd be interested on people views on this SC for sale currently at Autofarm. Seems like a good buy, until you see the price that is. Are people out there really paying £21K for this kind of car?

How are the prices of this standard of car going to go in the next few years?

Cheers all,Phil

Hi Phil

The car is a Carrera 3.2 rather than an SC but nonetheless that does seem like a hell of a lot of money. At this price you are deep into decent 964 territory. I have the impression Autofarm are often prices "a little" high. Maybe if the car has never seen rain, and is in absolutely perfect condition I might think about it but otherwise I don't see what the extra £5k (above "normal" priced 3.2s) is getting you.

I reckon if you bought this car today and tried to sell it privately tomorrow you would be hard pressed to sell it for more than £14k or £15k and that its value is going nowhere but slowly downwards. I reckon SCs will bottom out at sub £10k, 3.2s around £10k.

What does everyone else think?

For a 1989 3.2 Carrera G50 with good history and 60,000 miles it does look like a spot on car, but as you say probably a touch on the pricey side, their buy "as is" price of £18,750 should be their full warranty price.

Seems bloody expensive to me too. I bought my 89 3.2 with 69000 miles (albeit LHD) for less than 10k. I could have had another car as well!! Hopefully I stand to lose less money over the years than the person who buys this.

Thats more than I paid 6 years ago for a '88 targa with fsh and 60k from specialist cars of malton who aren't known to be cheap!

Nathan, although I obviously don't know your car at all (!) it sounds like you got a bloody good deal. Private sale I assume?

Yes James, private sale, although I had to travel 200 miles to get the right car. The service history is patchy but that was a good bargaining tool ! The bodywork is very good and mechanically it's (so far, after 7 months) been fine. I've noticed a little clutch slip when being agressive on take-off so I'm keeping an eye on that. Having said that, I could have paid top dollar for a similar car and had the clutch go (or far worse).
