Yup..... I am so glad I got out of London just in time ...... I am renting in Seaview at present but waiting for a completion date for the flat I have bought on the Esplanade in Ryde ....... I hope your trip to the Island materialises …… I know Seaview very well as my Gran lived here and I spent all my holiday here ….. if it comes off I look forward to meeting up for a pint and perhaps a nosh.

My ex lady friend daughter's husband works in Mons in Belgium for I think NATO ....... he was on his way back there after a few days at home and was told to return back home ……. I don't know if that was a border issue or work orientated ……. Question Dont know

Eurotunnel !!!!!
Not the best for, shall we say customer relations 😀
This is their latest idea of 'helpful'

If you have an upcoming booking please be reassured that we plan to continue to run, but it’s important to check whether the border authorities will allow you through. The French authorities particularly are only allowing essential travel

😂😂😂 So in English they will take the £££ take you across to see the French authorities, who will promptly put you back on the train.
As things are why don't they do the decent thing and just cancel all but essential journeys, their PR is not good to say the least Evil or Very Mad
Maybe I should have 'spent a lot to loose a little, rather than spend little and loose it all' 😂😂😉👍
I know you are able to reschedule, but I feel in the current situation refunds would be far kinder to customers .

Could be wrong, but I was under the impression that one effectively is cleared for entry to France when documents are satisfactorily checked at the control point on the UK side, by French officials. This arrangement is reciprocal. Being turned away would occur at this point, saving a superfluous journey.
It would make sense though to check if other borders are closed if you plan on going beyond France. (Not going to enter into an intro European border debate)

As an aside, I altered travel arrangements for the Eurotunnel I was planning to use in April. I put the booking back to much later in the year for no charge.

As I usually do, I book premier inn at Folkestone, for the night before ....
They’ve just announced they won’t be open till 30th April, and I can have a free cancellation on my non flexible booking .

IF by some miracle travel issues are resolved by then , could rebook all these hotels probably at a much better price , as they’ll be desperate for business Question

My work buddy has just made his return from Sweden today I I finished up just before Christmas), set off at 5 am this morning, through Denmark, Germany, Nederlands, Belgium and France to catch the Dunkirk ferry. He couldn`t get a tunnel booking till Friday.
He said the German border was tough (questioning his trip), Nederlands was OK, Belgium OK, France was the strictest with questioning and temperature checks etc.

He made good time though as the roads were deserted except for trucks. 1600 km in 13 hours, average speed around 75 mph including border stops and fuel stops, not bad for a T5 van loaded with tools.

He and 2 cars were the only non freight vehicles on the ferry, all the rest were trucks.
