80,000 mile service almost due, what would you do?

God's speed to you if you can manage to recover the cost difference between OPC and specialist servicing in resale value.

Sorry but nobody cares whose buying used as long as its a good condition car with a solid history either OPC or a respected specialist.

But it it makes you sleep better at night and feel more content crack on.

Personally I would chose an OPC serviced car over an indy everytime. Also some OPC's wont look at a non OPC serviced car at px time, so IMHO another reason to stick with the OPC :thumb:

Finally reached out to my nearest OPC (Hatfield) for a quote, came back at £920 inc VAT for oil, filters, brake fiuid, tyre sealant and other checks.
Need to provide them with details of previous services so they can give a more accurate quote to see what actually needs doing (wouldn't be surprised if they turn around and say that plugs are needed too!)

Every 4 years for the plugs, so if it had them last time it doesn't need them this Time :thumb: Plugs at an OPC ain't cheap....

Are they not able to access all previous service history at other OPCs through their computer system?

No, think they only have access to their own centre.

3 out of 4 who I contacted have said plugs are due, prices are ranging from £1053 to £1302!

It's a tough one, I had mine done at an Indy last summer and previous to that it had only ever had OPC, It was the big 12 Year one belts, brake fluid, plugs.

It got silly talking to the service department who had gotten close to £2K with plugs and belts..... I had the lot done at an Indy who were great to be fair. I changed some wheel bolts whilst there, I think i had 4 Coil Packs, two heat shields and an air con service for under a grand.

Ironically i had searched for a car with FULL OPC History and then as soon as i got it i had it serviced at an Indy. The other option was to buy the whole lot from GSF for £175 and do it on the drive...... I'm not planning on selling any time soon so not bothered about retaining any value for the future, by the time i've taxed it insured it and serviced it i'm at a loss so i added all that into the equasion when making my mind up.

Oh I'd do it myself if it was a keeper, unfortunately I'll be putting it up for sale soon so think it's best to keep the full OPC history!

In your situation I'd probably do the same, but if I were keeping it I'd have it done where I thought it would get the best service for a fair price, which in my case is the indie I go to for everything else. I asked a Porsche specialist retailer what they thought just this week because 4th service on mine will be due soon. Their view was with first 3 stamps OPC, reputable indie stamps thereafter would be no problem. I guess some people and OPCs would disagree, but the market is broad enough IMO.
