80,000 mile service almost due, what would you do?

Service due in 900 miles it's telling me, I was in JZM last week having a small thing fixed and spoke to them about servicing.
They advised it would be due the minor 20k service, with brake fluid, spark plugs and PDK oil due - think I'd be looking at £6-700 all in from them.

Question is though, is it worth sticking with OPC as the car has full OPC service history? I'm guessing prices for the above service would be over £1k if I went down this route?

pdk indcates you have a gen 2 so its £800
chart also seems to say pdk oil is only due at 12 years /120k

Ah interesting, thanks for sharing. £795 all in doesn't seem bad to keep OPC service history I suppose.

Check that your local OPC offers the fixed pricing though as if not it will be more expensive (info is on that same web page).

If they do, the extra cost is worth it in my opinion to maintain value. They will give you a loan car as well (probably a big excess though so don't crash it) :thumb:

Mine was in with Bristol OPC last week and they picked up a puncture on the test drive after the service. They sourced and fitted a new identical tyre for free, non N rated MPSS. Not sure how most indies would have dealt with that but the level of service I get at my OPC is really good in my experience.

That is excellent... it would have been easy for them to have said it was a 'wear and tear' thing.

If you can get the service for a fixed price , for me I would stick with OPC history personally.

They used to say PDK clutch oil at 6 years and PDK transmission at 12 from what I recall.

PDK clutch oil is at 6 years up until 2014 model then it switches to every 12 years .. no idea why though .

If there's not a huge cost difference between OPC and an Indy then even i would recommend an OPC .. just make sure they are upfront with ALL the costs before booking .. they do like to have every little thing as an extra charge .

God's speed to you if you can manage to recover the cost difference between OPC and specialist servicing in resale value.

Sorry but nobody cares whose buying used as long as its a good condition car with a solid history either OPC or a respected specialist.

But it it makes you sleep better at night and feel more content crack on.

OPC charge extra for these, they're not included with the service. So you're looking at around £800 for the service + £200 for the brake fluid + £400 for the spark plugs (if a gen 2, less on gen 1) +£250 for the PDK. I'd be surprised if the opc charge was under £1800 tbh.

Mine is due next yeas so I'll get the service at the OPC for the stamp and the other bits at an indy.

If you find an OPC that does fixed pricing the spark plugs and brake fluid is including in the prices. The 8 yr service on my Turbo S a couple of weeks ago was oil, brake and plugs at £995.

If your is a 12yr service on a 997.2 CS It will be £1125 on the fixed pricing inc PDK fluid, brake fluid, belts and spark plugs.

If your OPC does not do fixed pricing or you do not ask for it, I agree the book price will be more like £1800.

At fixed pricing I still say it is a no brainer (accept others disagree). When I contacted a couple of indies the quotes I had were at best slightly cheaper (£100) and many were more expensive. The indies were much further away and only one would offer a loan car. My OPC gave me a Cayman for 2 days FOC (£1000 Insurance excess which may put some people off).

Obviously anything outside servicing look to indies. Always worth calling the OPC as well and asking if they are interested in price matching. When I had new brake pads for my PCCBs my OPC was cheaper than the two indies I contacted.

If you are confident enough, can borrow a lift and can be bothered you could do it yourself.

It really is not that hard you will save yourself £££.

And this forum will take you thought it step by step.

So, when THEY cause the puncture it's Ok for them to stick on a non N rated tyre :dont know: But getting extended warranty N rated is a must :bandit:

As it was 'free' can't really complain :thumb:

No they matched the other non N tyres already fitted at my request. If they had insisted that the replacement had to be N rated (which would not have been unreasonable) it would have caused me issues. As it was they fitted what I wanted without question.

Plugs and brake fluid are included in the 80k service, as per the PDF.
