What did you buy your 997 this week?

Nothing exciting, just an MOT at Porsche Tonbridge (Pass obvs 🙄).

BUT saw a chap picking up his brand new lizard green GT3 RS! He was obviously pleased as punch. A lucky fellow indeed.

A litre of ACF 50, same amount of their Corrosion block and some of the same marine grade grease so I can whack it on my MTB so that when I jet wash it the damn stuff Doesn't come out quite as easily ?

DSC module and accelerometer fitted by 9E.
Next job is a suitable phone cradle - I like the Rennline one as used one of theirs in my 993. If anyone has alternatives let me know

Brodie/rennline one sits too low for me. I use a couple of magnetic ones in airvent. Combined with two magnetic discs in phone case it's solid.

I bought a Kenyu airframe vent holder based on reviews, but 997 vents are too floppy.

These are what I use in all our cars.

Car Phone Holder YOSH Pack of 2 Magnetic Cell Phone Holder for Car Air Vent Magnet Car Cradles Mounts for iPhone X 8 7 Samsung Galaxy S9 S8 Huawei Wileyfox Doogee Sony Moto Xperia, etc for GPS devices https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N8W7IJB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SpEVDb73B4D1M

New LED sidelights, following a recommendation on here for a type that worked with the 911's canbus.

Ebay number 151702370542 (10SMD version)

Great result

I have the rennline on both my 993 and 997. It is low on the 997, but short of windscreen or vent mounted solutions it's the best.
Ps a. It can of the DSC PASM unit too.

James - you know this already, but nearly every 997 I looked athad at least one dodgy vent, I assume due to phone holders or air fresheners.
They are a bit of a pain to fix too.

Guess all I'm suggesting is caution in mounting anything on the airvents :D

Matt - Good stuff, what's the colour match like with the xenons?
Would have thought 6000k colour temp might be a bit blue, would normally go 4000k but interested in your thoughts, esp in the dark.
Cheers

As my car started to suffer with the drivers door window dropping when the door handle was pulled, but immediately returning to the closed position as soon as the door handle was let go, I bought a new door lock. The micro switches inside the unit start to fail eventually and they aren't really user replaceable.

From Design911 it comes in at £219.65 with VAT and delivery which I thought was a bit steep.

After a bit of googling of part numbers I found the above, which is destined for a Volkswagen Golf Mk5 right hand side door, on ebay for £17.89, over £200 cheaper.

Spot the difference....

img_1029.jpg

....not a huge amount and nothing needed changing or swapping over from the original unit.

The clip that connects the external door handle to the lock is a weak point and although the original was OK....

img_1034.jpg

....as the new lock didn't come with a new one (obviously)....

img_1033.jpg

....I decided it would be prudent to order a fresh one.

The new lock's now fitted, a bit of a fiddly job but not too difficult, and the window now behaves as it's meant to once again.

It's nice when you can avoid the Porsche tax! :D

You should send this to PORSCHE and politely requested why? It would Be interesting ?
