Sold my last 997 gen 2 ,4 years ago and been missing one lately. Always liked the 996 ! Bought a 1999 3.4 6 speed manual with sun roof , 113 miles and service history, drove it to Porsche specialist for check over, service and MOT.
Just hoping it's ok and can't wait to start using it as much as possible!

That's some serious low mileage

 Welcome back!!

........and the right car too :thumb:

Will no if it's the right choice when the garage ring up with the condition report.

I bought the 3 x 997,s this way and it worked out!

Looks like the last owner spent quite a bit on the last 2 services at OPC and some good quality paint work.

Felt like a proper car!

I think Alex was pointing to the 113 miles. I assume you mean 113k?

...113k and just run in :floor:

I was waiting for that.

142k here and its still not exploded. I must be one of the 90% minority :nooo:

...because it's a fact !

The M96/7 engine isn't "just run in" at 80k plus miles; quite the opposite. In all likelihood it's " running out" ... of time and crank bearing , bore, timing chain guide material,

It's simply unhelpful and frankly conveniently delusional to peddle rhetoric about misinformation that suits owners of high milers (80k plus)

Consequently I shall continue to assert some reality and objectivity in this perversely sensitive area...

Well I had my IMS bearing, chains, chain guides & cams all checked out recently and they're mint

Drip... drip.... drip...

GMG = Chinese water torture

Driving style plays a bigger part in engine wear of these cars than mileage does.

And there's no measure or documentation to back that up.

...The definition of CWT is people who occupy the space between reality and fantasy...typically these people own high milers or have yet to experience the joy and expense of failure thus desperately clinging onto the possibility that all the hype about these engines is inaccurate despite the fact that numerous specialists are rebuilding and fixing them on an almost industrial scale...or that Hartech, the recognised experts by the very same people, are recommending / suggesting early remedial rebuilds...

And Alex didn't you once suggest yours has been rebuilt as your Indy said that he had NEVER seen such clean and unworn timing gear on an engine of your age and mileage?!

And as you will have figured by now I am immune to the typical blind forum
ignorance regarding their precious marque thus sadly for those that take exception to my posts...tough; I shall continue to say what I see

:hand:

I'll bet you £50 that the majority of engines Hartech rebuild are under 100k miles.

...please keep it Alex as payment for proving my point :hand:

 :thumb:

My point was these engines can need a rebuild at any age or mileage, so your comment about high mileahe rebuild deniers is incorrect. They may all need a rebuild at any age or mileage, especially the M97 3.8 and to and to deny that is just the same.
