996 Things to check change whilst the engine is out?

I had the engine out on my 996 C2 Tip cabrio (1999 72k miles) when I purchased it at a specialist to get the IMS, RMS and Oil separator replaced. Unfortunately 14months (1200miles) down the line the engine is out again to deal with a water leak from one of the plastic pipes on the separator which has cracked. Is there any other parts/items that can only be replaced while the engine is out that are common problems that I should consider replacing?
Thanks
Glenn

Rear brake lines are a must.

General condition of underbody for rust & corrosion - treat as necessary

Mine's a Turbo so I had a few different problems to address which you won't but what I think might be common would be aluminium coolant pipes which look ok but were corroded where they sit in the retaining clips. And not just engine bay brake pipes but underbody brake line front and rear, on mine I'd had advisories on MOT for a couple of years.

I also had a replacement coolant expansion tank. Apparently they do crack and are difficult to replace with the engine in place (on a Turbo anyway).

Also on the Tip box there are a couple of external oil lines which needed replacement. 2003 with around 85k miles at the time.

Lastly and while not related to engine out would be the steering rack pipes, mine were pretty nasty.

When mine was out the brake pipes, aluminium coolant pipes, power steering pipes and coolant tank were all changed.

The engine came out for the brake pipes but the others showed the signs of age / wear so i and them all done to save removing the again in the near future.

Everything in the image below needs checking or replacing .. i would also say have a good look at the wiring grommet o/s/r as the bodywork often corrodes badly at this point .

The brake pipe can be seen running across above the two large aluminium pioes in the picture. I would also check the fuel rails and clutch slave cylinder.

I had my engine dropped a while ago to fix an AOS. The Indy did say he'd check for any other issues, but he didn't report anything and I didn't get a chance to go and have a look.

It will be annoying if something needs doing now...

Out if interest is there a better spec AOS than the failure-prone standard one?

Change M96.01 for a M96.70, only joking!!!

Water pump, if it's the original there's probably not much life left in it.

Oil pressure sender if it's looking corroded, and check the spade connectors to it on the end of the loom as it's very common for them to corrode. Quite why the oil sender doesn't have a proper waterproof connector I don't know!

The AOS that is being replaced is a new one that I put on when I bought the car 1year 1400miles ago......I noticed the leak within a month, had it checked twice over the year before taking the engine out. From description it sounds like the small water pipe was fractured during the refit
