Switchable exhaust

Hi all

I'm looking at a switchable exhaust and have done a bit of reading. If anyone has an aftermarket one where did you connect the power wire ? The obv place would be the battery / positive terminal clamp in engine area but I beleice it's meant to Ben a switched live not permanent live.

Won't it be best near wherever you locate the switch. eg: in your horse shoe then do it to the fag lighter.

It's switched using a remote control .. the control signal box sits
In the engine area that then connects to the vacuum lines

This month's issue (December 2019) of Porsche World magazine has a tech feature about fitting the Spyder switchable exhaust with the remote... available in WHSmiths and some other newsagents I guess

I had a TopGear switchable exhaust fitted to my Turbo.

The remote control receiver was originally fitted by my specialist in the engine bay area but it would reset the exhaust to loud (default) everytime I cycled the ignition which was very annoying...

My final solution was much better, I took the power from the same supply used for the Cat sensors.. This was on the Left hand side, under the rear parcel shelf near the DME. I relocated the controller box here too, keeping it nice and dry..
It only needed the solenoid control wire to be routed into the engine bay.

This power source remains on for 30 minutes or so after switching off the ignition...
