Not really surprising that Porsche built a driver focused car, reassuring to read though, my wife has a Tesla 3 which has impressive acceleration but would
drive the 993 every time given the choice........Taycan could be a game changer in a few years time - not at GT3 value though.....

There are few things as funny as a triggered Teslaphile. The most amusing bit for me was that they sent their prototype to the 'ring to claim bragging rights, a machine that wasn't simply stripped to the metal, running experimental tyres that you can't buy, different bodywork that you can't buy and a completely different drivetrain to the production cars: the drivetrain didn't even have the same number of engines {up 50% to 3 compared to on-sale products}. Coupled with the 3-5 year timespan if ever that is typical between an Elon product announcement and anyone in Europe being able to buy it. And after a couple of days testing it broken down, couldn't be fixed and the went home. Floor

Teslas are a decent product in context, but their advocates are every bit as unbalanced as any other technology fanboys. Most of them don't even realise that it isn't actually a premium brand - for what they deliver they are actually closer to a commodity price point (and by many accounts their after sales support can be appreciably below even that). Well - until the VW ID range kicks the stool out from under them anyway...

Yeah
Couldn't agree more. Having driven the P100D in Ludicrous+ mode, it is viscously fast in a straight line, and will probably be the fastest accelerating car ive driven for quite some time. Tech toys aplenty, but like any electronica, the time between cutting edge and mainstream is about 18 months.
But.....it felt, at best, like it's a 5 series or the like. Premium mainstream if that makes sense. There is no way this bloke is spending £100k+ on it. At least the Porsche has a look and feel to a Panamera, with the interior looking very Porsche-like.
The game changer will be the influx of Vw ID bracket of cars hitting the market. Prices will tumble,
