Ok this is a cut and past from my "Does anyone know the GT3 at RPM" thread.
Thought I'd start a separate thread to say hi and post some pics as well.
To recap:-
Peter Morgan PPI checked out perfectly. All items picked up on the PPI got sorted by RPM.
I only ever bought 2 Porsches without a Peter Morgan report and the 2nd one burnt me. Never again and it is the best £400 you can spend, think of it as a full structural house survey..

Friday I collected the car, I was nervous to be honest. Would it be too stiff for a daily? Would the gear change be too notchy? Would the wife have a fit when she saw the cage and enquired about where the dog would sit....
Well it all went amazingly well, yes the wife did raise an eye about the cage. But I will have that removed so that there is room in the back for the dog. I am thinking of getting some kind of custom fitted shelf in the rear over the rear seat indentations. Like the 3.2 CS maybe. Or just fill it in with foam cut to fill and covered with carpet/fabric.
Not everyones cup of tea but I won't be tracking it and it needs to fit in with my use of it.
Well what a surprise, the RPM team set the chassis up to be more road focused. Yes it isn't a smooth as the 993 I had but it's not that far off. The steering is sublime and less stiff then the 993. The clutch is softer, the gear change is notchy but is like the riffle bolt I have read about. And everything gets better once it has heated through.
And OMG the power, I can't see ever getting bored of it. I had the opportunity to stretch it out a few times this weekend and it makes me giggle. Can't believe it is mine!
The new splitter RPM fitted is already scratched/damaged. Mainly from my frikkin drive. Thankfully the council have agreed that my drive needs lowering and is "only" taxing me £1,200 for the works...

Upgrades I am planning:

1.DSC+Accelerometer
2.PCM 2.1 - I have Denision but not with bluetooth - I want to keep OEM so think I'll upgrade to the bluetooth unit and hope that sorts me out.
3.Iphone cradle - Brodit has been mentioned so I'll look for that or get the Denision unit.
4....Any suggestions??

DSC + accelerometer fitted today by 9E.
Had a nose around the showroom...the stickered GT2 looked amazing. Liked the silver 997 turbo, steering wheel from the later cars looked good in it. Carrera GT was nice to see, look's like it has been used as well which was nice to see, last time I saw one was at OPC Reading in the workshop and it was just the carbon tub, should have taken photos as the quality was amazing.

On the drive home I was really trying to notice the difference. I couldn't really tell but I guess it did feel smoother. Probably would have been easier to tell if I had already owned the GT3 for some time and had more experience behind the wheel. Off to the perimeter of TOWIE land Sunday so will be in the car for a few hours on A & M roads and then through Epping Forrest so that should give me a better idea.
Last weekend I went and collected another ClubSport I own which is of the 3.2 variant. Now when I was jumping between the 3.2 CS and 993 the difference I noticed was as follows:
993 felt like a luxury cruiser compared to the 3.2CS.
3.2CS sound is intoxicating..the custom exhuast pop's and bangs(not like the fake M cars or AMG's) and makes you want to ring it's neck.
The 3.2 CS never felt slow, and once warm I would drive it higher in the rev range than the 993.

Now jumping from the GT3 CS into the 3.2 CS...well that was a complete shock...the 3.2 CS felt so damn slow, shockingly slow! It felt completely gutless. The DNA still run's from the 3.2 CS to the GT3 CS but my god the GT3 is on another planet! But I need to remind myself 20years separates them in build years but in tech it is probably more like 40 years!
The seats however in the 3.2 CS are much nicer and they are Recaro buckets that although fixed do have more holes to be able to adjust them and I have the back reclines more with the seat higher at the front which is how I like to sit in my cars. Will have to see what can be done in the GT3 as the back feels too upright.
What is similar is the nature of these stripped track cars though and that was good to feel.
My way home was either M40..shortest or the A41 back to the smoke which would take me longer. So I took the long road, and wow what a nice route. Fields either side of me, mostly single carriage, through some nice villages. The sound of the GT3 is amazing, the way the thing builds speed is on another level. It is great at overtaking, you just make sure you can sight the road ahead and change down and then off you go past the slower moving traffic.
I really think I have found "the one". I can't imagine how I would ever need a more powerful car, and I know power can corrupt but honestly why would you need more?
A few people I know think I am mad have the GT3 as a daily, but I have loved cars since I don't know when. I poured over car mags, dealer brochures and top trumps when I was younger. I dreamed of driving Porsches, Lotuses, Ferraris, Lambo's Maserati's...Sierra Cosworths, Golf Gti's...you get the picture. I always thought I'd rather have a nice car then a big house and I wouldn't care if the car wasn't comfortable as long as it drove well and made me smile. And being fortunate enough to own a GT3 why wouldn't you drive it as much as possible even on the most mundane drives? You never know that mundane drive could turn into an epic drive just because I am in the GT3 as opposed to a comfy, snooze generating "normal" car.
I feel I am starting to waffle so will end it there. I'll get some more miles under the belt and then report back on that DSC..which is what this post was meant to be about after all...

Congratulations :thumb:

I want one even more now.... :frustrated:

Good write up Fulla.

We need a picture of the two CS together.

Enjoy!

Best of luck Fulla :thumb:
It's a shame you only had a little while with the GT3 prior to fitting the DSC, so comparisons will be tricky.
Your car looks fab and I bet the 3.2 does too so please do post up a pic of the two sat together that has already been requested.

Not the 2 CS's together but my previous C4S.
The CS is at Autofarm for it's annual service at the moment so when I collect I'll get a photo of both together.

Would be interested to hear what you think about the DSC + accelerometer. It's something I've considered it, but reviews seem few and far between for our model GT3. Maybe disconnect it for a few weeks or so until you're familiar with the standard car, then plug back - that way you'd have a firmer view on whether it's any good or not? I remember evodarren had it for a while but wasn't that impressed and got rid ... Would be good to hear your views

As far as mods go, I've done a few bits and bobs, and if i was doing it all again first i'd fit lighter wheels like my OZ's, they make such a massive difference to acceleration, braking and cornering. I'd then go with these (no particular order):

- RSS semi-solid engine mounts (tightens up the rear end, makes the car less wobbly in tight corners, really noticeable on track dont notice it so much on road)
- New LSD (the factory fitted ones are made of chocolate, I went with the Motorsport diff but I think all the cool kids go for Guards now - was yours ever upgraded by a previous owner?)
- Centre muffler bypass for a bit more noise (unless you're planning trackdays, car is already 105db-ish on a static test as stock which is quite loud)
- Momo Porsche Cup steering wheel
- Buckets (but you already have these... I fitted Recaro Pole Positions, great seats. Also fitted an aftermarket cage and harnesses to make my car a bit more Clubsport for track usage, wouldn't bother with any of this though if just using the car on road)
- PCM delete (although it seems you're a fan of ICE, I'm not I'd rather listen to the sound of the engine in this car, in my M2 I'm generally blasting out some reprobate punk rock/ska)

Other mods/improvements I've made over time -

GT2 rear ARB (can be adjusted to be stiffer than the standard ARB)
245 front tyres (reduce understeer)
5mm front spacers (reduce understeer)
Refurbished front dampers (+DU bush upgrade)
Proper geo(s) @ Centre Gravity (reduce understeer, more neutral handling)
SRF brake fluid
Mobil Motorsport 10w/60
Red alcantara gear knob, handbrake, console lid
Grey alcantara lower dash and top-mid dash
Black alcantara top dash, chrono and centre console
Cup 2 tyres
RS29 all round (for track use)
Waxoyl (no/very little protection from the factory as standard)

The above is nothing though, for proper mods take a look at what NXI and Cunno have done to their GT3's

So I do think the DSC has made it smoother but as I said not enough miles under the belt yet.
The car does have some mods already which from memory are:

Cross over pipe.
Motorsport LSD.
Ceramics replaced (I have the ceramics) with GT3 cup discs & Performance friction pads.

I like my music and listen to music most of the time and have a nice vinyl collection at home that gets played and added to. So although I like the sound of 911's I can't live without my sounds. thankfully I got my Dension kit sorted in the car and can now stream from FIP, 6 Music, Worldwide FM and Wefunk..so I am happy now.

Realistically the car won't go on track, I have done some track days but would probably feel more confident in a car that was slower and allot cheaper...not sure how SWMBO would take it if I can home with a part of the car and a heroic story of how she should have seen me avoid a massive crash saving lifes but unfortunately totalling the car in the process...
For now the DSC seemed to be the 1st mod, followed by the roll-cage coming out so I have more space in the rear..then watch this space, like the idea of lighter wheels...maybe I can sell a spare set as "winter" wheels..:)

Thanks for the tip about Wefunk, the name intrigued me, 5minutes in and 👌🏻

Good isn't it.
I'd check out FIP as you have different stations playing different kinds of music in the 1 app and Worldwide FM (Giles Petersons) is also good as you can listen to previous shows and they do have a "classic album sunday".

Amazingly I found them after getting an internet radio at home and searching for the top-ten stations...and found this lot had been listed in the Observer!

A little off-topic - may I the reasoning behind Autofarm looking after your CS but Tognola looking after the C4S?

Tognola did look after both when they both sat on my drive.Due to the increase in value and rarity of the CS i decided to put it in professional storage. And the closest specialist is Autofarm.

..aha, storage the key factor. Thanks, based on previous PM exchanges, you can figure out why I was asking!

Congrats on the new purchase, hope you don't miss the 993 too much :puh:.

I had the DSC fitted to my GT3 997.1
Had it on for about 6 months. Wasn't really impressed It really didn't make a difference. I understand they work better on the normal Carrera and turbo, I believe the suspension is a lot different on the GT3.
I sold my box.

Nice one Fulla. :thumb:

I thought I'd replied already but mustn't have.
I followed your thread when you first saw it. Good result.

Plus you still have your 3.2CS for that aircooled kick. That's gorgeous too by the way.

Anyway, lovely car. Porsche nailed the rear end on those 997s. The centre pipes and things look great. 8)

Enjoy.
