This is a Cayman as its all ive had in recently to take pictures of these things that can cause issues .

Early versions and these got blocked with wax oil in the manufacturing process and there was a campaign to replace them .. these days ..

It's just for info if you have water ingress and it shows you what to look for as a possible solution .

4 in total and they are all under the undertrays .

To remove these .. finger nail under it and fold down .. it will look like a mushroom and can be removed and refitted .

Hi Demort - is the process of checking these are clear part of the prescribed maintenance on the 981? Given they are hidden by the under trays they would be easy to miss!
tim

PS - some very interesting stuff you have been posting on the 981s - thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.

well now .. that's a question ..

At OPC we had a campaign on them but that was on release so a good few years ago .

At OPC then on a service being it minor or major we didn't remove the undertrays .. so no they wasn't checked .. BUT .. i left OPC a while back so i can't say for sure these days what they do .

At Indy .. it's down to how well they know the car , as i left OPC not that long ago i know about these and on a major i will have a look .. not on a minor service though .. it's the undertrays removed to get at these .. a minor is about 1.5 hrs labor so this is Not included .

if you had a complaint about water ingress at the same time or i found damp carpets then yes i would be having a look .

These are also angled .. air flow opens them .. if fitted incorrectly that would alter how well they work.

The shear number of posts on these .. unusual from me ! .. basically i've seen many questions and have had no photos to explain things so when i had one in i kinda went to town .

This is the similar for a 991 as well.

Posts like the spark plug change .. no one will be interested in that for a good few years i expect .. but it's now out there to be found should anyone want to change their own plugs .

Post now .. help someone in the future .. its all good :D

EDIT ..

Your car is three years old the same as this is .. ok its a Cayman but i didn't have any problems with this one and i very much doubt there will be any issues with yours .

This is really useful thanks fir posting, my wet carpet problem is back after a couple of months of dry :(
