-agree 100%. No point in replacing unless it gets really bad.. in fact, better to show some battle scars. When I see a pristine one it makes me sad :dont know:

Enjoy !

I like the thought process, I won't be changing it...but I do want the drive sorted. After some research I have found I have to get the council involved....so this could take some time!

Congratulations, felt the same about not believing mine was mine, miss it.

With the splitter, as said, you'll become skilled in minimising scraping through pre-emptive driving, but some scrapes are unavoidable, best to see it as a consumable. I used a sanding block and tyre gel to keep it looking reasonably respectable between changes. The other cosmetic you may find needs upkeep is where the wheel arches meet the sills, they get gravel rashed.

Great to see you getting it to fit it into your life :thumb:

I had the same gravel rash issue on my 993 C4S. It was always the fronts that deteriorated. I did try the clear film (so called helicopter tape) to try to stop it but it still happened and actually went rusty. So my preferred method is to get a body shop to prep and paint when it get's too scruffy.

Its from a none GT 997 but so far as I know it should fit (better check though). NB you download free software with it to 'tinker" with the settings which is great fun and if its not got the correct map on for your car you can simply install the correct one ....

NB you will just need to check if your car will need the separate accelerometer or not ie none Turbo 997.1 cars do but not sure about the GT3 or if yours is a .2

Cheers the CofG team mentioned these to me. So far the ride isn't too bad, it's inbetween my 3.2 CS and the 993. Will investigate further and have a think...Bigger issue at the moment is no DAB! Oh and I need to get the cage out..oh and the drive lowered so I can fit on it!

The speakers in mine are, frankly, poor, but yes, I could not live without DAB, although the prime motivating factor in getting rid of the Fisher Price PCM system was having decent navigation, and also iPhone connection/hands free.

I fitted a Kenwood unit and honestly would no be without it.

A few nice pics of others that have converted here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=230&t=1623694&i=20
