PASM. Its started to fail on every run sending the suspension into track mode or no suspension, well that's what it feels like on country roads, is there anyway of testing the system at home , I've a basic code reader but its not bringing up or logging a code, if I turn pasm off before starting the car and turn it on again a few miles down the road it behaves for a short while.
Help please I can't afford a full suspension overhaul at the moment.

It's likely to be 'only' the pair of dampers, rather than a full refurb, unless you want to go that far (and that sounds unlikely at this moment)
Think your best bet is to get it to an indy, get them to diagnose and go from there.
Have you got one you trust?

With pasm shocks you can replace them individually .. they don't have to be done as a pair .

Let's put it this way .. Porsche warranty will only pay for a single faulty shock and not both , so they are of the opinion it's perfectly fine to replace just one ... if the budget is tight then just replace what's broken .

My way of thinking .. if the other isn't leaking then there is no need .. these are not normal shocks .

I have durametric pro if you want to do a full fault scan on the car. I'm not far from Lincoln.

I can also disable PASM with durametric but I'm unsure if that will result in a hard or soft ride afterwards but perhaps someone will know?

I've got the same issue on my 2007 C4S aith PASM, local specialist want £1800 just for the fronts. Is that about the right figure or is it worth shopping around?

If it's the front PASM shocks (and assuming you have a 997.2 or these shocks are the same as the 997.1), I have some used but good cheap one's for sale on eBay ;-). These were removed after a suspension upgrade

Front shocks are approx £500 each .. as you will probably need new top mounts , bump stops etc then we could add up to another £100 - 150 i guess.

Labour i would guess at as about 1 - 1.5 hours per side .. if we go with 3 hours then that's about £300 ..

Bolts seized ( which might be what the garage has accounted for ) will be extra .

At a rough guess then its worth shopping around as it seems a little on the high side ... assuming no bolts are seized .

Once again though .. you don't have to replace both shocks if only one is leaking .. Porsche dont .

BTW .. i'm no parts guy so the above is a guess at best .

Just carried out a continuity check on both front shock absorbers, one has continuity between the electrical connections and the other one doesn't, which one is broke?

logically the open circuit one would be faulty but as i don't test them that way i can't be sure ..

I would put a piwis on it and there will be a fault code .. i would then follow the test plan which in cases like this usually just says replace the shock .

Without a fault code read out of this system then its a guess .. x4 shocks on the car and any one thats faulty will register a code after above 10 mph .

My humble suggestion is get an indy to do a fault code readout of the system .. it's going to be pretty cheap as its less than 10 mins work to read out the codes .. that way you will know for sure .
