Not sure the people involved want their names posted on a public forum. Might want to edit your post.

ok but there's no edit or delete function

Debby is happy for it to be posted though....

There needs to be an independent UK body that shuts firms like this down. That engine work is horrendous.

I hope Debbie gets her cash out of him and nice that people are being pre warned about charlatans like John Hawkins and Specialists Cars of Malton.

You could make a football team up in Yorkshire with Sean Lockyer, Andrew Mearns and John Hawkins up front.

May the force be with you.

:starwars:

I am sad but not surprised to read of another car sold by Hawkins for which the proceeds have not been paid to the owner.

I have information relating to other persons who have not yet published their problems.

I fear there may be a significant number of people who will get caught up in what I feel is an inevitable outcome.

He just needs to sell someone elses car to pay her, simplez

Statutory demand is the right course of action at this point. He will need to give a specific reason why he is disputing the debt ie in writing so is faced with either lying in writing or accepting the debt is owed. Its reltaively cheap to do for a debt which has no genuine grounds for dispute and usually forces action ie payment, lying or the company to admit insolvency (as per GMund).

Specialist Cars At Malton SCaM

I had a bad experience with The HAWKins.
Was sold a top priced "original" 996 GT3. Turned out to be anything but.
JZM refused to sell the car for me it was that bad.

The first issue I had was getting hold of the V5, it took months.

Had it shipped back to him and demanded a refund.
He pretty much ignored solicitors letters, I think he's seen it all before.

Heard every excuse going, from sick mothers to eye operations, it went on and on and on.

I was worried rejecting the car meant I had to claim against his company. After looking into his accounts I changed the plan, the accounts are shockingly bad.

In the end I drove up there and blocked the entrance and refused to move until money was wired back to my account.

Thats my experience anyway!

I personally think the more "Hands On" approach often works out better than long and protracted means often employed by these types of sharks that expoit individuals by loopholes in the system that serve to protrct the perpetrators.

I'm glad I've read this post, scom is local to me, I was planning to use them for my service work. They always seemed to have a good reputation, I know people who have bought and sold them cars and they were very happy. This post has certainly put me off using them, I don't know if I'll trust anyone with my Porsche now, I might just service it myself (I am a qualified mechanic) I was only going to send it there to keep up the full service history.

Thanks for sharing your experience StePorsche. It sounds like your decision to be proactive about your issue paid off. Well done.

Your comment as regards "every excuse going" is SO familiar to me. Everyone I've spoken with about John Hawkins has told me the same and it tallies with my own experience. The most ludicrous, unimaginable and unbelievable excuses were proffered to me throughout my entire dealings. Divert, distract and delay appears to be the mantra.

Don't forget Jon at Yorkshire Classic Porsche.

As they all hide behind Ltd companies there's no guarantee you are going to get a penny out of them.

Not sure how this turned out but another near victim of this scammer managed to get his (huge) sum of money back by using a good debt collector... He posted the number in this thread ..

Thanks DarkHorse, I was aware but I very much appreciate your gesture and intent.

Note to anyone who has read this thread. Another person who had a terribly bad experience with John Hawkins and Specialist Cars of Malton has created a thread here describing their own sorry story ...

I would encourage users to read my review and read the other reviews which are now growing.

Anyone considering leaving a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 Star review on the Google page for Specialist Cars of Malton might find the urge to do so compelling.

Hawkins is a Fraud

Like everyone else here I too fell victim to John Hawkins. in 2018 I was looking to sell my porsche and was contacted by Mr Hawkins telling me to let him sell it he promised me maximum value saying he would take care of it. Everything started off well lots of contact. Then he told me the car had been sold and I should receive my money within 6 weeks that's when the problems started. I had every excuse under the sun, even using the death of his mother to get more time with me. It wasnt until reading on here about employing a liverpool based debt recovery firm that i started getting optimistic about getting my money back. They had dealt with him before and knew exactly the right buttons to press. Thankfully they got me my money back BUT DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS MAN
