Mine is a 2004 997 window winding issue I am experiencing is most confusing if I press and hold the unlock on the fob both Windows wind down automatically when approaching the vehicle. However when I lock the vehicle and hold the fob windows do not wind up. And more curious when I'm in the car if you give a good hard press on the passenger window button down the window will automatically go to the bottom. However the driver side does not do that and when the both windows down and you give a good hard press on the button up neither of them automatically wind up until there are about thay quarters of the way up.
Can anybody shed any light on this while my mate said that the OPC can sort it out with the programming cable I have the intermediate one but not the advanced one.

I would agree you have an issue. Re-train your windows, however as you have a 2004 car it is the same as my 2005. The passenger window does not auto close until it is half way up. Drivers will auto close from the bottom (fully open position) You should feel a second ident on the switches normal movement is up and down the second position is the auto up or down.

The comfort open and close are 2 separate coding options .. you can have one coded but not the other .. need a tester connected and a coding check to see ...

In this case it sounds like comfort open is coded on but not comfort close .

The window buttons can fail on the auto up down function .. classic symptoms are you need to press it hard or wiggle the window switch to get it to work..

It's a new window switch pack thats required .

Some 997 auto close from the bottom position , some are from half way up only .. i don't know what years this is changed on though .. its a safety feature that was introduced .

There is a cheat by coding the left door control unit to LHD i believe to fool the system and make it close from the fully open position .

I would tend to use an Indy over an OPC .. a wee bit cheaper :)

Thanks guys
i have been out fiddling with it, The window switch yeah looks like the driver-side one needs either replacing or at best taking out and cleaning. got it booked in for the gearbox oil to be change next week with a specialist in Sussex so I'll pick their brains when I drop it off them next week.
