Well I think you may have heard from jonttt just how sublime the bgts is.

Having had a late 981s that was fully loaded and having to part company with it due to financial constraints (I was a bit skint at the time).
So first chance I got I bought another 981s but with a lesser spec. 12 months in and I just wasn't quite contented that I'd properly replaced the previous model. So I started my search for another well loaded 981s model.

This time it had to have PASM. Well you might not notice it but imho you notice it when you've had it and it isn't there anymore.

Then I had to have better headlights, as I live a bit out of town and sometimes have to travel on unlit country lanes, so I had to have at least bi Xenons with the high beam pdls units.

Then there was the pse, a. It like the PASM well you don't have to have it but you notice it when it isn't there and unless I'm mistaken it seems even better on the gts than the s model. Although it is a tad noisy even when its not on again unless I'm imagining things.

Then there is the extended leather to dash and doors. I missed that more than anything I just found that this made the car feel like a nicer place to be. The plastics in my 981 were really good but because i had extended leather before I couldn't help but miss it.
I wasn't sure I'd like the combo with alcantara but I was wrong here. The seats seem to glue to you like Velcro and yet they still feel comfortable.

The extra power is not really enough that you notice it much but I can feel it's there when the revs are high around the lanes.

Final thing for me was the interior and exterior styling. I love the carbon touches and the gloss black exterior and black gloss highlights on the turbo alloys.

So finally, to make sure I know I'm in a different car, I went for a colour that I'd never contemplate on the past. Thanks to a confidence boost from many on here(thanks for this) I grew some and went for guards red. Usually I've been a black or grey kinda bloke but as this car is not intended for daily driver I can go for something a bit more out there.

The cost: well cost to change was ridiculous really, I coul have bought a new mini and kept that as well as the old Boxster but I know I had to have the bits that I had been missing and I was driving a lovely car but still feeling a bit discontented. I feel a bit selfish saying that because the 981 s is awesome and what's not to like.

But having had the gts for a day and a half now, I feel back where I was plus a bit more to boot. It's just that combination of little bits of everything that make this a special car and now I'm back in love with my car again.

Sorry for the long post but just wanted to share my happiness 😀
Plus gratefulness that I have been able to get back to where I was.

I have now got my mojo back 👍

:useless:

I was searching for a GTS when I bought my Boxster S, but the spec of my car was such that it was effectively the same spec as a GTS for £15k less. A few bits were missing though, such as PSE (which I had fitted).

But between you and me, I wish I'd bought a GTS. If it weren't for Bolton OPC I would have.

Tbh the first Boxster s that I had was totally specced up, right down to the interior light package, online services, extended leather pdls, pse, pasm, chrono, the works.
Oddly enough the one thing I could take or leave is the pse, it's great to have but I still think it sounds great without it.
I wish I hadn't sold it but to get at least some of that back I had to either look for something similar or go for the gts.
Cost me 14k to change but hopefully if I can manage to keep her for for 3 years or more I won't lose too much money. By that time I will be nearly 60 so I will look to get a car that is really special. (God willing).

The good thing is that the last Boxster s I had held its value really well.
I traded for around 2k less than I paid a year and 6k plus miles ago so wasn't too painful at all.

I think the 981s are great cars all around whatever the variant.

I keep on saying it but the 981GTS are just one of those rare cars that are just more than the sum of their parts, Porsche just got that one 'right".

Yours is a great spec and in one of the few colours that actually enhance what a GTS is about plus its a great road car spec, enjoy :thumb:

I've got a guards red BGTS and absolutely love it.

Cannot disagree with any of this, still loving my BGTS (Agate with red roof & platinum satin wheels) two and a half years on!!
Having had another 718 - this time a GTS - recently when mine was in for warranty work (slight oil leak following OPC service, and fault with air-con blower motor), it really brought-home how the 981 GTS is such a special place to sit (extended leather on dash, tops of doors, deviated stitching, carbon pack interior) - ALWAYS a sense of grand occasion sitting in this car and starting it up.

I have an upcoming road-trip to Germany in 10 days with 5 friends in Porsche's - through Reims & Gueux for the old French GP pits & grandstand photo-stop, Stuttgart for Factory tour & museum, Frankfurt motorshow, Mosel river & Eifel mountains, Nurburgring and a day and a half sightseeing / socialising in Bruges before heading back to the North East, via Caffeine & Machine! Absolutely cannot wait!!!

Love the sharpness & precision of the 718S and GTS, and the phenomenal rapidity of that car, but for me it's somewhat sterile in the overall experience - there isn't that sense of grand occasion. I'm as happy to pootle in many 981 GTS with that glorious soundtrack, as I am pushing on (and I expect I have no real idea where the limits of this car are - certainly WAY above mine!!). Just my humble opinion, we're all different and I'm not looking to stoke the existing inferno that is the 718 / NAflat-six debate.
