Suspension refresh

Hi

I am planning on a suspension refresh with Ohlins.

I am struggling with all the different part numbers, and the differing names for the same items.

Are "forks" the same thing as what people call "diagonals"?

Thankyou for any help!

Hi Vin

As per my PM, here is the list of parts I bought when I had my suspension sorted at CG, excluding the Ohlins which I bought from D911.

Please note that my car is model year 2006, there may be some differences between model years so worth double checking everything. The Meyle website is worth a look to check part numbers, also the Elephant Racing suspension navigator is worth a look to get your head around how the suspension works.

Here are the links to the eBay items, ps. never trust what the eBay seller or part checker says, they are quite often wrong. Where possible check agains the OEM part number.

Thankyou for any help!

Tuning forks are diagonal arms .. they are bolted to the center bush in each coffin arm , they get called different names is all .

Hi Rob

Thankyou very much for this, it is a lifesaver - I was pulling my hair out trying to to work out what is what!

I am finding a few bits on autodoc, as well as eBay - which will save quite a bit of money.

Thankyou - I managed to work it out earlier today - by deduction! People use so many different names for the same thing. Gathering part numbers and comparing prices, is not as straight forward as I thought it would be.

Took me forever too and it is confusing with all the differing part names! Still manage to order the wrong track rod ends and front lower control arms! Definitely worth checking and double checking part numbers!

let me just say at work i can look at different systems for parts and instructions and the same part is called different names ..

It's the german to english translation that's the problem .. there is no one guy doing this but many and there is often no direct translation of what they call an item to what we would call it so they do their best .

We also use slang a lot more ( not sure the Germans do this ) .. it looks like a tuning fork to be honest !

Looks like a fork to me too, can't really see "diagonal"!

It goes at a diagonal angle to the coffin arm :)

In geometry, a diagonal is a line segment joining two vertices of a polygon or polyhedron, when those vertices are not on the same edge. Informally, any sloping line is called diagonal.

That's a quote btw as i'm not that intelligent !

I almost there gathering part numbers, and where to source from.

Does the rear require 4 dogbones?

Porsche p/n: 997 331 047 01
Meyle p/n: 416 050 0008

AND

Is the "Toe Arm" the same as "REAR Drop links"? Left and Right required?

Thanks

Timely post as I am considering having similar work done soon.

A few questions that might be relevant:

- How about anti-roll bar bushes, should these be changed "while there" too?
- Porsche OEM suspension arms are TRW. Anyone know where these can be purchased? Are Meyle suitable? (I read somewhere on a forum that there is more variance in their bushings resistance, this was based on actual research, not just speculation)

TRW I have seen only on autodoc.co.uk, it is OE quality, but is about twice the price of Meyle. I have been told the Meyle parts are just as good, and others have used with no issues. I have read about size issues a long time ago, but nothing recently - perhaps the issues are resolved, but I am not 100% certain.

Anti-roll bar bushes, I do not intend to replace.

I also found this thread useful. Thanks.

Can anyone advise on the difference between the attached picture? They're both rear track control arms and there's a £30 difference but not sure which ones I'd need for 997.1 c2s.

Thanks
