nice work on the centre console Justin it looks smart, i might get round to doing mine one day.

On the wheels front, personally i would have them finished as they are now with the black centre and the chrome rim as the black will match the car and with the contrast of the rim braking it up a bit, plus its a bit of a nod the the sports classic especially if you are thinking of a duck tail.

Thanks Mike & T8 :thumb: I dont have much in the way of fingerprints left from all the rubbing down... :floor:

I do agree that maybe sticking with black would be best... maybe body coloured instead? here's some possible outcomes..

Let us know how you get on with the ducktail :D

Just seen the pics inserted above my post, still black petals with silver rim !

Another delivery today :thumb:

These are off a 996 so apparently need to be trimmed down by 45mm... might try and fit them over the weekend

Great reading love the centre console and the work you have put into it

Did you fit the exhaust bits you had only the bolts look very rusty ....did you have problems removing them

Regards

Mike

When you fit the cats you might want to extend your O2 sensors so they connect on the right side, have a look through my thread for the extension cables I made to get over the problem :thumb:

Also you will probably end up needing new O2 sensors autodoc seem to be about half the price as cp4l for bosch ones

A productive weekend :)

First off I fitted a dual aux/usb lead to the centre armrest, with the wires chased back up under the centre console to the head unit, getting quite proficient at removing this now 🤣

Next I thought I would tackle the cats.... put the rear of the car up on ramps, removed the back bumper, then the heat shield on the drivers side which gave good access to remove the silencer. All good due to having replacements stainless bolts and brass nuts on the joints, other than having to drop the engine down by undoing the engine mount, so the the 2 silencer mounting bolts can be removed upwards, I put them back the other way around 👍 once that was out I got the drivers side cat out, and had a real struggle with the pre cat Lambda, had to heat the mount up with a small torch then use a pair of stilsons with a steel bar for leverage. It came out 👍 the other one came out ok, not sure if spraying them for the last 3 nights with WD helped or not🙏

I then cut that one down with an angle grinder, although I cocked it up as thought it was 35mm when in fact it's 45mm... so will need to get them both off again st some point to slice off the other 10mm... anyways I then removed the other cat, didn't have to remove the other silencer, but did remove the passenger side heat shield for better access. Once the second cat was off it was the same deal as the first, the pre cat lambda was stick solid and needed heat and leverage to free it up, but it eventually undid 👍 the other lambda was worryingly loose.... probably the wire clips holding it in place... anyway cut that one down by the wrong 35mm (😂) and the set about refitting it all.

As you can imagine with an additional 10mm it did t go on easy, but it did go on, so once I had figured out how to get a big more play from the loom with the lambda connectors it all went back pretty well 👍

Initial impressions are it's a lot louder 😂 and I probably won't be bothering with a Gundo hack 👍 car doesn't really feel any different which was expected, but the additional noise is quite addictive.
I've definitely got a blow from the drivers side silencer flexi that will need attention.

Thanks mate 👍 I managed to get them all out and get enough slack to get them connected, although I think some extension cables for the 2 that have moved the most might be beneficial... where did you get them from?

You might not have realised but I bet your post cats sensors are connected to the opposite bank than the oem set up as they should be on the same side for the individual cat but the TG cats have the lambda holes in different places (look at the photo you posted of the old vs new) so they dont stretch to the correct connector. Some say this doesn't matter but for me it just didn't sit right that the ECU was getting the wrong readings so I made the cables. Have a look at my thread and i did a little walk through how to make them with parts from Ebay and a company for the connectors who I will try to dig out the details of. You might want to also use the cable clips I used to fix it to the back of the engine support bracket as this was a tidy solution that look quite oem. :thumb:

Hello mate, mine are fitted the same way as the ones that same out, the furthest away one did require clipping a cable tie on the loom to give a bit more length and I'm not entirely happy with the position of the connector on that one (which you can see in the 7th and 8th pics above) so I'll have a look st your thread as the extensions would be a good idea on those 2 👍
