Newbie - after a bit of advice on PPI

Short time lurker, first time poster

After a long time of being quite apathetic from a distance to Porsche (probably as they were out of reach for me as family needs took over) the bug finally hit me hard after having the opportunity to get out in a 997.1 GT3 and recently a 991.1 C2S PDK. So much so that i'm now looking to buy the latter.

Firstly, thank you to this forum for being such an invaluable source of information, the breadth of knowledge here is fantastic and has definitely helped shape my current thinking. Secondly, i'm after some advice on PPI, after a fair bit of searching I've found a car at an independent dealer, a condition of sale would be that they get Porsche to conduct the next scheduled service and a 111 point check. in light of that, is a PPI also worth conducting?

other than that scheduled service the car has a full Porsche service history and all looks good on the surface.

If Porsche do the service and 111 point check that will give you the option of the warranty. They will be all over it with a Colini stick to reassure themselves to warranty spec so if it's not right they won't offer it.

From a mechanical side that's as good as a PPI. Only thing missing is bodywork examination to see if it's 'straight'.

Good luck :thumb:

Checks

You cant get a Porsche warranty until you have owned the car for 90 days.
They wont do the 111 check and then allow you to wait 90 days, you would need to re-do it after the 90 days elapses.

I was less than impressed with the 111 check, but had no choice as bought it from a Porsche dealer.

You could risk the service and see what they pickup, but that wont include bore scope (if you want it) for example.

I would go indie or mobile specialist PPI and then have Porsche service it. See if the seller will cover any repairs brought up by either party.

Then you can decide if you want a Porsche warranty.

Thanks for your advice all.

The dealership has been great to deal with thus far and committed to a Porsche service & 111 point check, the latter more for my piece of mind that I could get the warranty in future. If anything came up in either they also committed to putting it straight prior to collection.

All in a good experience thus far and I collect the car on Saturday  . I'll be sure to post a dealer review once complete.

They can't be much fairer than that. :thumb:

Looking forward to hearing more from you after Saturday and don't forget ...... :useless:

it finally arrived :D

Got to say a huge thank you for Alexanders Prestige who went that extra mile to make collection day one to remember for my son and I.

Looking forward to racking up the miles

the option remaining on my wish list was cruise control for those lazy moments. I'd have loved black on black but got over ruled by the wife, to be fair, the grey has grown on me.

PDK
Rear wiper
Park Assist (F&R)
Auto Dimming/folding mirrors
Grey interior
Sports Chrono
Sports Exhaust
Phone Module
Sports Wheel
Heated Seats
20" wheels

Very nice. Retrofitted cruise to my C2S the week after I picked the car up, from memory I think it cost around the £550 mark but was done in a day.

Enjoy your car.
