1998 Porsche 996 Carrera 2

PostPosted: Mon Aug 12, 2019 4:48 pm    Post subject: Electrical Gremlin - Sunroof, Windows, Locks Reply with quote

Hi

I posted on here not long ago about my sunroof going all the way open and sticking, I thought it was an isolated incident/problem BUT in the last two journeys other things have been happening!

I put my windows down as it was a hot day, they repeatedly went back up again together, only by several stop starts did they reset themselves and have been fine since.

Then this weekend my drivers door refused to open and I had to climb in through my passenger door, again it was fine after being opened etc!

They must be linked!

Any ideas? The closest I've had to this was when my ignition barrel key thing needed changing and there were various gremlins with the lights/wipers/a/c but this is changed now and the problem has not reappeared.

Best Edward

Difficult .. sunroof is not really linked to the doors .. well .. other than the alarm control unit ..

So .. first thing .. look under the passenger seat ... is it wet there .. are there any drink bottles that might be punctured and leaking onto said control unit .

My theory though .. drivers door lock is faulty and the sun roof is a separate issue .

Tester connected .. you are looking for the drivers door barrel being in the activated mode ( closed ).. comfort closing will be activated , windows close on their own..and it actually would try and close the sunroof ....

If you hold the key in the barrel in the lock position the windows / sunroof close .

Perhaps it is linked after all .

Thanks for your message, im just not sure, seems such a coincidence that the windows, sunroof and lock played up (albeit over the years my passenger lock has played up at times).

If it is all related then its only the drivers door key barrel that connects it all and that's the comfort closing part .. i think it can be coded off with a tester to prove .. 997 onwards it can .. not 100% sure here without looking .

Code off comfort closing if possible

a look at actual values again with a tester to see if its stuck ..

or replace the door lock ass .

i think prove first is best but it involves a tester .

That's Imho as usual Smile
