Hi All,

Collected my new to me C2S this evening and was driving very nicely. Pulled into services for food and fuel and noticed a metallic clattering noise from the left exhaust and fluid leaking from what I assume is the coolant pipe. Coolant level was fine though.

Drove on a short way and stopped again, leak is worse and definitely coolant so I'm now at a service station waiting for the AA....!

Looks like the pipe has become dislodged slightly where the clamp is. Could this have been disturbed when the car was borescoped?

Hoping the AA can get me back moving as I'm 200 miles from home.

Bad news. Hope you get home safely and can get it sorted quickly.

Good Luck.

Left had side, metallic noise, sounds like waterpump gone to me unfortunately :nooo:

If it is the waterpump it`s not too difficult or expensive to replace yourself, or at an indy.

Hope you get home safely :thumb:

Thanks guys, I did think it could be the water pump.

Didn't get any warning of overheating on the dash gauges so assume that's a good sign on that front.

I'm guessing the chance of the AA having a water pump are low!

I'm at Cardiff gate services if anyone can recommend an Indy I can have it taken to?

My waterpump went in the Boxster with no drama as I was on my drive, they normally just leak through the seals and bearing, sounds like the engine is going to explode, but no damage done unless the engine is overheated.

Sorry I don`t know any porsche indys in Wales, but any garage would be able to replace it in an hour or two, I did mine myself, but on a Boxster the engine is the other way round so a little bit more of a pain in the butt as it`s behind the drivers seat

My water pump went earlier this year.......sounded just like that.

Just waiting for a low loader to take the car to Welsh Porsche in Cardiff. They actually borescoped the car for me and Paul there seems a good guy based on calls I've had with him.

Any ideas what I should expect to pay in labour?

I think I paid £180 for my waterpump ( my local car parts guy gives me trade prices ) and I would expect 2 hours for fitting the new pump, so £200 inc or thereabouts :thumb:

In the end I wasn't collected by the low loader until 11.30pm so I had 2 choices:

1. Drop at Welsh Porsche specialists but car would be left on the road in a vulnerable location, badly lit industrial estate, or

2. Drop nearby at OPC Cardiff in a slightly better location.

I've gone for OPC as I'm hoping the car is more secure there and also they should have access to any parts required quicker than anyone I'm hoping.

I'm sure this will be expensive...!

If they have time will ask for a basic service, any idea what I should expect to pay for that at OPC? Do they have a serviced menu for older cars?

I think OPCs have a book time for straightforward jobs, so probably 2 hours plus a spanking on the "Genuine Porsche" parts, if I remember correctly about £380 for the pump + £250 labour

But you get free coffees, grab as many free Porsche pencils as you can

I will! Believe they dish out Porsche mints there lol!

Any idea on the minor service cost? I saw a thread the other day where an OPC was offering a half decent price for a minor. May also save me time booking it in again elsewhere.

Some Porsche OPCs do have "Fixed price menu servicing" for older generations of cars I`m lead to believe, but not all :frustrated:

I think their prices are not too far off from a good Indy, but they will scare you to death with "Extras" that they feel need to be addressed while the car is with them

I do my servicing myself, so no idea of pricing at OPC or Indy though :)

Here's my bill from my mechanic when I had mine done a few months ago. All parts were genuine Porsche parts from ECP.
