GT3 Prices

I'm currently looking at 991.2 gt3 and 991.1 gt3 RS hoping prices soften a little bit.

I've ruled out the 991.1 gt3 due to the engine. That 10 year warranty hasn't got long to go on early examples and this will be a long term car for me.

I wouldn't pay anywhere near £100k for a car with a badly flawed engine.

I really want a RS but I wonder how I would get on with it every day on uk roads.

I thought the issue with the 991.1 GT3 engine was it catching fire not going bang :dont know: Does the replacement engine solve the problem or is it still a risk?

The initial issue was them going bang due to a fault with the conrod bolts and the resultant catastrophic failure resulted in an 'air conditioned" crankcase, this in turn deposited oil on the exhaust which led to the well publicised conflagrations.

Later cars/subsequent revised engines aren't affected in the same manner, the issues seem to be valvetrain related.

Picked mine up on Wednesday. Haven't done any miles in it yet, due to the pissing weather......... :nooo:

Fantastic cars, love that colour, you clearly do! GTS for daily and GT3 for treats and track?

Nice. Is that your tractor as well chum :dont know:

For info @supercarnigel has offered his 991 GT3RS lava orange with 10k for sale at £145k making it the cheapest in the country. Presumably OPC have offered quite a bit less in trade for his new speedster :?:

Thanks, yes, the GTS will be the daily for now, and I've just bought a VW Up! GTI as a little runabout too, to share the load. The GT3 is my weekend/Dales car, and I'm thinking about doing some track days, once I've had some tuition.

The tractor will come in handy for when I need pulling out of a ditch...

No, that's not mine, nor is the farm.

Going into Leeds tomorrow to look at this:

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-GT3-91601

Not keen on the door handles, or interior Crayon trim, but other than that it's bob on. They've offered me £92k for my GTS in p/x. That's quite a hit after only 5 months and 6k miles........ :?

When I'm sat in it tomorrow, providing it's still there, I just know the teenage boy inside me is going to forget economics and roll over. I need to be strong.............arghhhhhhhh.

Oh how the weak have fallen......
If you're going to be weak Graham then why not with a 'brace' of Crayon Porsches, well done :thumb:, As many say , you're only here once so enjoy in good health, I'd be right behind you with a GT3.2 if I could only convince Mrs Porschekit.... :thewife: but she's got other things on her mind ,,,,like kitchens....

Hope to see it in the flesh soon...if you're having a run out next mid-week (if the rain ever stops) let me know and we can do a meet up somewhere on the Yorkshire moors. There's a few of us lazy bas..retired folk available...
You're also welcome at our annual PCGB event at Witton Castle on Sunday 18th August, let me know if you want details.

cheers
John

Awesome colour/car, never seen that before. Bit like Audi Nardo grey I suspect?

I've been keeping an eye on GT3 prices recently and a couple I had my eye on have sold this week (the Iris Blue Mk1 CS at 911box - my old car which I really wanted back (!) and the guards red Gen 2 CS at Leven Car Co).

The search goes on but good to see there are still plenty buyers.

Enjoy the car

Thanks John. :D I couldn't resist.

I'm not about next week, but the 18th sounds good at Witton Castle if you want to PM me the details. That'll be a nice run out and the weather is looking ok, in the morning anyway. I've just joined PCGB, and it'll be good to get to another event.

Thanks. Its similar to Nardo, a little bit more beige in some light, but a flat colour, and looks very different under different lighting conditions, so it's always difficult to describe exactly what the colour is.

2 trains of thought....

Bold. ie Racing Yellow/Guards/Lava etc. OR understated Black/Blue/Silver. Then there's the other way... Crayon! :thumb: Looks amazing in that colour, and the ultimate engine. Still trying to work out why you have two mind

I like crayon. Like a paler fashion grey.

I've seen one I like but it's not through a Porsche dealer. I wouldn't normally be bothered but I've never spent close to this on a car before.

My first house was cheaper tbh.

If it's a 991.2 you'll have the balance of the manufacturer's warranty, no matter where you buy it. But buying through an OPC gave me a little more confidence and a warranty until 2022.

It is through redline specialist cars.

The extra warranty is definitely a bonus with OPC cars.
