I''ve just bought the cheapest 911 in the UK!

My lisence plate lights were badly corroded when I bought the car. Ended up having to solder on new spade connectors and getting new lights. I guess that's what 20 years will do to a car!

Picking up a multimeter tomorrow, will keep you posted

It looks like it's disconnected behind the bumper :(

Is it normal for the rear speakers to pop out like this? They don't sound great either but I think that's just the way they are

Licence plate lights failing in wiring behind bumper is not uncommon on 996. At least that's what I was told recently.

It's not that bad taking the rear PU off. Bit of a mission for some lights though!

no those speaker don't look seated correctly. They're easy to remove, but can sometimes take a bit of finessing to reseat correctly.

btw you can get a set of Alpine replacements for about £40 on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpine-SPG...pine+spg-10c2&qid=1565027487&s=gateway&sr=8-1

They'll sound much better. You'll need some connectors:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01KQG3MK2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

& you can recycle the original speakers to make mounting brackets:

Argh! Drip from a split power steering hose :(

Where abouts is the split ?

Is it the "usual suspect" where the hose changes to a hardline into the steering rack, the aluminium ferrule corrodes and splits apart :?:

If so, two jubilee clips over the hose and clamp it down onto the hard line :thumb:

I think it's much worse...the drip lands on the floor under the right hand side exhaust box (when looking at the car from the back)

I can just hear the garage now 'that's an engine out job mate"

Here`s the diagram of the pipework, the rear hoses are the same style as the front ones that fail, it may be the same fix if you are lucky :thumb:

Awesome, thank you for that. Will take a good look tomorrow and post back what I see.

Ok, maybe I'm not being totally truthful there as the window is starting to irritate me just enough to start thinking about doing something about it (Apart from applying rubber treatment to the seal but it squeaks even when the door is open and with the scraper seal on the outside pulled away)

Google 'gumi pflege". It is what the German manufactures all use. It is the best stuff for rubber seal sqeaks/rattles/creaking noises. Don't put silicon based products on them

Got it :)...but it didn't work so took the door apart and lubricated where the cable ran. The squeak has gone but it's still a bit slow, I think the angle of the glass against the rubber could be it as it's faster when the door is open
