Hi,

I'm based in the North but looking nationally for a body shop expert to fix rust in the above and also address 2X broken check straps. I will probably use a windscreen expert to remove / refit the screen.

Any recommendations for recent work please?

I've received a great one from the trade for a firm in Oxfordshire and I'm leaning in that direction. Work required November this year.

Always keen to check on latest experiences though.

Many thanks.

To do that effectively you will likely require that wing to be taken off, so you can see how far down the A pillar the rust has traveled, you may be lucky with just the removal of the rubber trim, but often that does not expose the full extent of the rust, so worth having some contingency in your budget...

I had some major surgery done at Ninemeister a few years ago. Big bill but excellent work. If they still use the old place for bodywork it's easy walking distance to Warrington train station. Unfortunately the 3 guys that did most of the work have left.
Revolution Porsche at Brighouse have a good reputation but I have no experience of their work.

Scuttle repair

That's some serious bubbling! I think that will require metal surgery. There a few good bodyshops around Newcastle. If you search for Ghengis's 964 thread it required some new metal.

Ninemeister - Warrington
Heritage Classics of Teesside - Middlesbrough

Both very knowledgeable and proficient with air cooled 911 bodywork repairs.

Thanks for the replies,

I'm budgeting for lots of metal work and possibly both wings off as both check straps require attention.

Do any forum members have recent experience of any Southern specialists as ideally I'll use a London based glass expert to remove and refit the screen to ensure it's been done correctly.

Do any body shops offer warranty on this type of work?

Would you discount the OPC network for example other than on cost grounds?

Speak to Mark at MW Bodyworks, Elvington just south of York, lots of experience with 993 & scuttles with a good reputation. I am hoping to get to see him soon for some work.
Nice & close to Leeds and I believe he uses a windscreen man who knows 993s

scuttle

Glassman has contacts around the country who he will recommend to fit windscreens. He did this for me and the guy was top notch so don't feel you have to go South to get a good job.

Hello Tycho,
Yes good one, I've spoken to Mark before.
The catch 22 is trying to save the screen and the £1K replacement cost.
Also to ensure that it's refit doesn't generate the usual issues.
I'll think it through as I've left it too long already.

Thanks for this, revolution have been mentioned also by others at a local show, I'll also check them out.

Mark is away this week, back on Monday. I understand that he has done many 993 scuttles and knows all the relevant issues.
