Speed yellow C4S

This car was for sale on mobile.de for very long time I was looking on it as bananas id my colour.

I'm recalling from pictures that front was a bit.... out of order

Does anyone have any links to the history of this car?

The engine seems to have been replaced with a remanufactured X51 unit by a Porsche specialist in Germany. There's a juicy invoice confirming the work carried out.

I also believe that it has recently been to Riverside Performance in Chessington for some work although it's proving hard to reach them so I may need to visit to make further enquires.

Overall condition is very clean inside and out, there is no obvious evidence of anything concerning but I've been around these cars for a long time so know that they can spring surprises!

It was for sale for a long time, appeared at Historics auction a couple of times and to be honest the advert and pictures were terrible. I had ignored the ad for a while and was seriously considering a different SY car which looked amazing but the more information that came back against that particular car the less I fancied driving 4 hours to view it!

As you may have guessed, I have actually now purchased this car. First impressions are positive and the price was certainly agreeable.

Low ownership, good mileage, and a nice spec for what I want (manual, no S/R, no ugly PDC, no old fashioned Nav....)

Any information or help to piece together it's past would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well done, John. You beat me to it. Well, I'd suddenly spotted this car for sale and realised it was the one I'd been in discussion with the previous owner before he traded it. I'd placed a call and was planning to have a look on Friday afternoon, but Graeme then told me it had sold!

From what I recall, the car had gone to Holland and the engine was pulled out for another car. The car was then bought and the new owner sourced an X51 engine and had that installed. He has a number of other 996 (Turbos etc) cars and decided to switch this RHD for a LHD to use in Germany. I don't believe the car was ever officially registered for use in Europe, hence it wasn't technically exported.

Will be interested to hear how you get on with it. Rob.

Thanks for the reply Rob.

Graeme told me someone else was coming to view later that day but I thought it was sales patter!

Have dropped you a PM.

Thanks,

John

Ha! I thought he was spinning me a line that someone had just managed to get in ahead of me!

Seems he was telling the truth!

Got the car booked in at my local specilist on Friday for a pre purchase inspection (bit late! ) and a service.

So far all i've really noticed is a slight leak from one of the AC condensor so I suspect a new pair and some grills are in order at some point.

The car drives very well, I had a chance to take it out on Sunday and was very pleased.

Will keep the thread updated as I go in case anyone is interested!

I've been in touch with the previous owner and it sounds as though you are already in contact.
Looking forward to the updates :thumb:
