comment: The car required a new RMS when I bought it so had the clutch and IMS inspected at the time. The bearing was found to be in perfect condition.

Engine flush used and oil changed, replaced with roller type bearing. Filter checked after 2000 miles and clear of debris.

Please feed back when they tell you what it is. I'd be surprised if it was your IMS bearing.
 
Possibly so, the IMS bearing may be goosed, but it may not be the cause of the problem. Could have had a jammed valve or something that then put too much strain on the chains and bearing causing them to also fail.

Confirmed as IMS by specialist.
