I don't really understand the hatred of the Carrera/Targa/GTS/Turbo etc 911 4 in the Porsche community.
I've got a 4, and I drive it all year round, in the rain, snow, ice, sun, rain, pollen, gravel, and mist, because it's my car. I must say it's far less of a 4 than any of our previous 4WDs or AWDs, as, most of the time (which is to say about all the time), ooh maybe only about 100% of the power goes to the rear wheels (even the skinny 295 section ***** from Nokian Renkaat).
It is about as completely different to drive as it is possible to get from any quattro, Haldex, 4Motion, syymetrical AWD, Xdrive or Land Rover as I have ever had the pleasure to pedal over the years. And as far as I can tell, almost completely exactly the same to drive as a 911 2 - although no-one's let me out on a track in a 2 to date. Maybe it's just a bit bobbier at the front end.
At the end of the day, in my limited experience as a non Level 1 Driving God the main advantage of the 4 in my 911 is to pull me straight when I'm looking at trees and rocks dead ahead out of the side windows.
But that's just me. :frustrated:
