My 987.1 S journey from pre-purchase to making her mine

I love her deeply but having recently become a Dad she's not getting used. I've kept her for as long as I can, but fear I should let her go to another good home.

Plan is to get a leggy 986 and make it a track weapon, that way I still have a bit of Pork but free up a bit of money towards a family runaround.
 
Congrats! I've got 3 weeks to go until my 1st arrives :) Not sure how I'll feel once I stop using certain cars even more than I do but lets see.

I don't think you'll be too upset with a 986 in place of the Cayman, at least you've had a taste with the Precision car. I love the 986, great fun, a seriously undervalued car.
 
Congratulations! Exciting times, defo hits your passions a bit hard.

It's funny, in my case my missus has gone from no hobbies/interests or passions to now being obsessed with our bundle of joy and all associated admin haha. Which of course is the way it should be, just funny to see her have something she's in to.

Whereas Im having to cut down on my passions. :lol:

If I can give one bit of advice..... 'Tomme Tippee Perfect Prep Machine'.

Think the Boxster is a goer, sell my beloved and hopefully pocket 10 bags, use the change to get me a 986 for ragging.
 
Shame that she has to go Marty, but, been there, done that and have the T-shirt, I had to sell my Esprit for the deposit for my first house :sad:

I will gladly contribute to your 986 fund if you want to part with your old bonnet badge, I`m after and old one to paint up in Gulf colours for my 996 :grin:
 
Guess I could class it as a casualty of growing up. She's just not getting used as she should. Gone from being wary of putting miles on the clock to setting reminders over the winter to get out in her (on cherry picked days of course).

I'll drop you a PM about the badge :thumb:

Great work matey. Exactly the sort of little touches I go for and those wheels are my favourite 987/997 wheels.
I'm loving the bike rack. Thinking of getting one for mine at some point.

Anyway keep up the good work. 8)

So to wrap this ownership thread up, I sold the Cayman today. Nice chap, knows nothing about cars, driving properly or Pork mind.

He's coming to pick her up on Thursday which incidentally is that last day of my 3 months off on shared paternity.

Anyways the car has been AMAZING, no way I'd let her go if she now wasn't a bit useless only having two seats. Maybe a 996 would have been a wiser purchase. Financially speaking and more family proof. Alas, I wanted something a bit newer.

From the moment Tom 911v messaged me about it, I knew I just had to have her. Best car I've ever owned, hands down. Was up and out at 4am this morning to say goodbye properly. Honestly had massive doubts today when I was prepping the car for him, even the missus said she felt sorry for me and that I should keep it.

Can't say all the fun I had in the car, all the love it got from random badgers, the feelings it imparted when I managed to go some way to extracting some of the performance. Just wished I could have justified having her sitting out there doing sod all.

So thanks to Tom 911v, this forum, deMort especially... I'm staying in the fold with a 986 project, so watch this space!
