Coolant hoses

Put my 2S on my lift this morning for the first time, unfortunately found that the coolant hoses at the front are leaking. On inspection it looks like the metal sleeves on the rubber hoses are badly corroded and so are the metal hoses that they go in to. I'm sure I've seen a how to thread on these before, but I'm struggling to find it. I'm probably going to strip it next weekend before ordering any parts, any advice or tips before I start.

TIA Graham

I did mine a few weeks ago Graham, at the time Demort advised me to just buy and replace all of the pipes at the front and he is right, its not worth trying to salvage any.

If you go on the Design911 website they list a kit with all the pipework that you will need - my advice is to buy all the appear in that kit but I found they were quite a bit cheaper in my local OPC when priced individually, so I bought from them.

You will also need the little support brackets and bolts that hold the aluminium crossover pipes as the bolts will shear as you undo them. If you need the part number for these I can find it for you.

Take note that the clips that hold the front pipes vary ever so slightly in size, so ensure you don't mix these up.

I caught my coolant, filtered it and re-used it.

Well I've got the right hand side stripped. I only had about 1.5 hours time tonight as I was looking after my kids whilst the missus was out. The alloy hoses and metal ends on the rubber hoses were totally knackered.
I'll attack the left hand side later in the week.

Yeah I'm replacing them all, apart from the plastic ones. I've been pricing them on design911, I'll probably get them off there as I don't have a local opc.

I was going to re-use the plastic pipes but the screws for the little brackets I mentioned earlier that shear off are housed within the plastic pipe - so I just replaced the phatic pipes on mine too - if yours haven't sheared off then the plastic pipes should be reusable.

They were going to shear on me, so I left the clips in place and threaded the metal hose out through them. Hope it goes back in the same way.

Don't forget to use the Dinitrol or ACF50 on the join to help resist corrosion.

Well it's back together, but the metal hoses were an absolute b**ch, I can see why some people drop the subframe to get them in. Probably not helped that I left the clips in place as I couldn't get the bolts out. Just need to keep a check on the coolant level for a day or two, only took 7 litres to top it up, I thought I would have lost more. :dont know:

Sorry to bump a thread guys, but I picked up my 997 GTS on Saturday and it looks like I have a coolant leak :(

Noticed fluid under the left exhaust when parked up, and the coolant level has fallen below minimum.

I'm taking it back to the dealer tomorrow to look at and hopefully covered under warranty, but any ideas what the issue could be?

Is it under OPC warranty? Where did you buy it from?

Purchased from Ashgood, a Porsche specialist in Slough, 3 months warranty.

I'm taking it back to them tomorrow but trying to get as much info on what the possible causes could be.
Searching on here and other places seem to point towards issues with the coolant hoses splitting/wearing or a split in the coolant tank.
