Car audio specialist recommendations in the south east

Hi all

I have an 03 plate C4S with what I believe to be a knackered Becker amp. All speakers work however the sound coming out of them is awful. Fuzzy and white noise like.

I'm trying to find someone or a company who know what they're doing with the fibre optic system who can replace the amp and head unit.

Can anyone recommend any good companies? Or have done this yourself and an give me some pointers? I'm fine with the wiring side of things but it's more the running of the cables etc that could be good to speak to someone who's done this already.

Thanks a lot

I'm planning to replace mine with a double DIN unit this summer. I think I'll totally bypass the MOST system and run cables from the new head unit to connect with the existing speaker cables in the battery well under the bonnet.

I'd be a bit careful of this as I've been told by a few people now that the standard speakers are 3ohms which means they wont run straight off the head unit because of the impedance. Apparently the speakers would need to be changed too.

But again, this seems to vary massively from car to car depending on what version of the system is installed.

Mine's the M490 audio option I believe. But from speaking to a number of different people in car entertainment places I've found that either 1) Porsche seem to have loads of different versions of the same system that all work slightly differently or 2) nobody really has any clue what they're doing with it.

This is why I'm planning on doing mine myself from top to bottom so I know for future.

try www.cartronics.co.uk in Brentford, quality of the work is good even if they are strange to deal with !

Thanks for this. I've already spoken to them actually but under the name of PCM repairs. I can send my amp to them for them to diagnose. It's £79 for the diagnostic then they'll knock that off the repair bill which seems good. Depending on what the bill is!!!

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind, may need new speakers too....

That's what I sometimes think when my kids put music on. Are you sure its broken? :D

South East is a big place, but I've been very impressed with John Kleis in Reading. They know their way round 911s and did a great job with my 996.
