What did you buy your 993 this week ?

Dec as a quick question, do you know what the imprinted triangle is on the N/S inner wing, I have the same and apparently all Porsches have the same, either a square or triangle.

Trev

Sorry Trev not a clue, didn't even know that there were two types, triangle and square until you brought it up.

ATB :)

What was wrong with the previous set, or did they just wear out?

Nothing wrong, just worn down.
Nice even wear front and rear.
Brembo competition pads up front and Textar at the rear.

A good clean up, my second full set.

Trying Pagid pads this time.

I wouldn't go Pagid personally, I tried them years ago on the fronts and they squealed like a pig. Made the same mistake when I changed my 4 discs a couple of years back for Brembo. Discs were fine but the Brembo pads on the front also squealed like a pig. I thought Brembo pads were the same as Textar but not the case. After 3 months I swapped them for Textar and all was fine. I will never fit anything but Textar now.

ATB :)

Textar do have a good reputation and normally I would go that route, going on track this year so testing the Pagid RS42 competition pads.

Initial impressions are good, no squealing at all (yet) 🙂

All sounds good, didn't know you were fitting competition pads. Have fun on the track :thumb:

Not so much a purchase, more an adoption - new rear seat passenger, if he fits in.

He is a GSD so the right nationality! Fifteen months old but acts more like 15 weeks - interesting with a dog weighing over 40 kg. He is our 5th rescue Shepherd and the first male but he is going for the 'op" on Friday – might slow him down a little. Next task will be to fit him into the back of the 993.

After the Service a few things were highlighted, that needed doing, so over the past few weeks I have:

Fixed an interior light (connection issue)
Replaced the washer bottle cap
Fitted a new headlamp washer pump (Genuine Porsche Pump was £313. Replaced it with a £14 one and a fitting kit from Type911)
Replaced the knackered F&R brake discs with Brembo and installed new Textar pads all round.
Whilst at it, replaced the warn rear handbrake shoes
Changed the front and rear wiper blades
Fitted Michelin PS4 tyres all round
I also changed the front ducts to the original spots that Andy (madalaa) had kept, as I fancied a change. They have gone a bit yellow so will be spraying them in the not so distant future.

And finally as the weather was nice, I clay barred the car and waxed it. Unfortunately highlights the stone chips.

When 911UK offered a free 111 point check at OPC Brooklands last year they said the front A arms were warn and was also picked up an MOT. So on Wednesday have the car booked in for Center Gravity to work there magic. They did my 73 911 and transformed it.

Confirmed order for C4 mounts, new front wishbones and steering track rods. Goal is to return to as close to original ride quality as possible. Already have new front ball joints and new discs and pads all round ready to fitted.
Just need someone to fit unless I have a go myself.

MOT with no advisories, a new starter motor (ouch!) and yearly maintenance check.

Oh, and tax at the end of the month.

Now where is that Lottery ticket...?

A coupla parts turned up last night, which means that this Weekend is a Workshop Weekend..

Biggest Job is the Rear Wiper Delete; I have the blanking swtich too for the console, so will be removed from Cabin to Glass..

..and also, and somewhat more importantly I think, a new Masthead arrived.. So I am removing the Cerakote one I installed in place of a 996. part and reinstating a 993. part..

Where did you source the blanking switch from? It's the one thing I haven't done regarding my wiper delete.
