So finally got around to my big 2019 project, suspension refresh!
Since owning the car, I've been slowly working my way through it correcting all the usual things (http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=128500&highlight=).
I eventually decided on going for an OE M030 kit supplies through Nottingham OPC. Almost went Ohlins to point of placing a deposit at Autosport - but backed out after a rare sensible spell and thinking for the same money what else I can do to it...
Received the box from OPC and on initial inspection I wasn't blown away by the finish the dampers have. No wonder the original ones are rusty and horrible! So, I had them refinished by a local SMART repair guy. They look much better now!
Stripped the rear end of dampers, mounts, roll bar etc and had to wait a few days for the new dampers to be returned to me. Took the opportunity to 'detail" the rear arch, and refinish that as well. Also tried some of that RaceGlaze Alubright - with a bit of elbow grease it's really good and cleans the ally components up a treat.
Just got the rear all assembled with lots of new hardware (makes it much easier!) and torqued up, refitted all the rear seats/carpets. Really pleased with it cosmetically and even gone to the effort of using coilover bags to keep them protected from road rash! (Probably overkill!) Have sprayed some sealer on the new shocks and components as well to hopefully keep everything shiney and clean for as long as possible!
Next up, new 993 RS semi-solid motor mounts, power flex gearbox insert
and the front dampers and roll bar to do before full alignment and geo. Can't wait to see what the difference is! Going on a run to the coast on the next bank holiday so looking forward to 'feeling" the difference then!
Will update when the fronts, motor mounts and gearbox insert are done...
