Replacing the gearbox mounting bush assembly

Has anyone successfully removed the steel and rubber gearbox mount at the nose of the gearbox on a 2WD car with the gearbox still in the car?

If so, what approach was used?
 
It's just about impossible. It's hard enough getiing the bolt out but a guy on Rennlist make himself a puller/inserter.
Mine was done with the LWF install by 9M.
