New here and my first post so be gentle
I have been looking for a long while and finally found the car I was looking for and it was only 10 miles from where I live took the car out on Friday paid my deposit and collect it this Thursday it has a full Porsche history and I have managed to get a 1 year warranty which is the same cover they give to the used Astons so hoping for a trouble free year, I am concerned about the IMS but from what I have read my car been a 2006 it will have the larger bearing now my only concern is boar scoring I fear that when my year is up with Aston it will be too old to get the Porsche extended warranty so have been looking at the Hartech maintenance plan anyone have any experience of it?

this is it,

I know it was slightly over market price but as I say its coming from Aston Martin with their warranty for a year and it has full Porsche history

Welcome... Good spec car, great colour!

Should be OK I think on IMSB for an 06 car... you can check from the chassis/engine no easy enough.

If you are concerned about scoring, then get it scoped ASAP or before the warranty runs out, and get it in writing that AM warranty will cover parts and labour of a comprehensive repair (i.e. all 6 cylinders).

Great looking car!
As long as you're happy with it the price is irrelevant. :thumb:

It isn't the IMS on that model to be concerned about, it's bore-scoring, but it's all down to how risk averse you are as to how much you want to dig into it.
A boroscope would be wise. Not sure if they've mentioned that?

Anyway, I hate to be "that guy", I'm just mentioning it. Enjoy it and I'm sure it will serve you well.

I'm not far from them either. I'm out near Morpeth. :thumb:

Good looking car, but I'd invest in the PPI before you pay the balance for the bore score. As we've seen recently on here, looks can be deceiving.

Wise words.

Hi, nice looking car. Zoomed in on picture and left exhaust appears darker than the right. May be nothing but as above get a boroscope check by someone who knows what they are looking for. Better still get Hartech to check it for you, and yes the Hartech maintence plan is well worth having, my C2S is on it after a full rebuild by Hartech. Peace of mind Priceless :D

:congrats:

Nice looking car!

The advert specifies 'Sports Exhaust' and 'Bose Sound System' are these both present?

I am also hoping that Porsche extend the warranty scheme again to cover older cars (past 14 years).

Nice looking car :) Im sure your very excited, hope all is good with it.

Welcome Sean, congratulations on your impending purchase......I agree with all the comments above.....get it checked first....I run a 997.1 C4S , let me know if you have questions or send me a PM for advice... We have regular runs out in the region both 911UK and PCGB, often together..see you around..!

John

Nice one Sean

I'm just up the road in Killingworth and have seen that car outside Aston....Looks lovely.

There's an indy literally 5 mins away just off middle engine lane,
D&G, pop in there with it,I take mine there and i'm more than impressed with the service and knowledge :D

Thank you for the warm welcome, I am collecting the car tomorrow I have decided against a PPI as the warranty from AM is pretty comprehensive I will be keeping an eagle eye on oil usage and the tailpipes of any signs and plan to join the Hartech maintenance plan as soon as the warranty expires maybe a month before just in case.

again thanks for the warm welcome I have a few question but won't jam the forum up with them all at once.

I'd get it scoped just for peace of mind...regardless of how good the warranty is :thumb:

This is a very bad idea....
Even if you dont want to or feel the need to do a whole PPI, at least get it scoped at a Porsche specialist, that on its own is probably the best £150 you will ever spend in your entire life. Its entirely likely that any warranty company will argue until the ends of the earth that the scoring is 'fair wear and tear', and lets face it on a 997 - it unfortunately is.... Oh, and I would have thought Aston Martins policy is underwritten by an Insurance company like any other manufacturor, ie it isnt actually an 'Aston Martin' warranty... its 'Aston Martin Warranty by AGS Insurance'

Totally correct, added to the fact that Hartech obviously wouldn't take your car on a maintenance scheme unless they are 100% sure that it is good bet. Would you rather find out when out of warranty that your car has bore scoring and that it will potentially cost north of £12,000 to put right before Hartech or any other organisation worth their salt will take it on. Get it checked prior to picking it up or at the very least take it on the proviso that you can return it for a full refund if you take it for a borescope and it proves to be scored. Otherwise you are a fool. Harsh it may be, but I/we are trying to save you a fortune.
