Found a car I like and wanted Essex Porsche Inspection's to carry out the PPI but seeing their process they say they don't do a Borescope check.
How essential is it to have that done as part of a PPI?
I thought when I had one done with Porsche Inspection's, I'm pretty sure they did carry one out. _________________ 996 X50 Turbo ... Sold

You'd be mad to purchase a 3.6 without one. _________________ 2000 Manual 996 C4 Arctic Silver Convertible

Checked my last Porsche Inspection's report and I was wrong - they don't do Borescope check either as too invasive.
What I might do is the Essex check and when the seller takes the car to be serviced at a specialist, have the Borescope check done then. _________________ 996 X50 Turbo ... Sold

When I was looking at a car near (I think) Brooklands OPC, they said it would be an extra £600 to do a borescope due to the “hours of labour”.
Ridiculous.
In the end I bought a car near enough to my local Indy. Borescope cost an extra £120...
Get a borescope, don’t be too concerned if there is some minor scuffing on a couple of cylinders on a high mileage example. Just make sure someone reputable does it that knows what to look for in the images. _________________ '04 996 C4S, arctic silver, graphite grey
