991.2 cabin creaks?

Ok so I made a change, got out of my 997.2 and into a 991.2 GTS. Massive change in power delivery and refinement which is why I have a question for other owners!

The 991.2 is very refined, that said i have some cabin creaks on broken roads only on passenger side (though this is where most of the potholes are). Am I expecting too much for the cabin to be creak free? It is not driving me insane I just want it to be as good as it can be if that makes sense? If the consensus is they all do this I'll leave it be, if not then OPC can have a look!

Will get some pics up when I stop driving it :)

Hi Richtw, before buying my 991 I read/watched lots of reviews and a few people mentioned about rattles and creaks from the interior trim, so I was concerned whether mine would be the same.

I found two annoying rattles within the first few days, which have since been fixed by the supplying OPC and two occasional rattles, one from somewhere up by the interior/reading lights and one from the Sport Chrono surround but these are minor and only happens at certain engine speeds, so I'm not rushing on those.

From what I've read/seen, most rattles seem to come from plastic interior trim vibrating against the back of the metal body panels and most people remove the offending trim and use sections of closed cell foam between the two - why Porsche didn't do this before-hand is baffling.

My passenger door rattle turned out to be the plastic back of the door card vibrating at certain frequencies against the plastic surround of the airbag - the senior tech at the OPC applied some foam tape and the rattle disappeared.
He also found there was a creak from my sunroof (which I hadn't picked up on yet) and this was resolved by applying a specialist rubber lubricant.

Rattles have also been reported from the interior trim by the C-pillar and the battery cover in the boot - again both resolved with foam pads.

Hope that helps - enjoy the car :)

I've had my 991.2 GTS for a couple of months, and I have something similar on the passenger side, somewhere close to where the rear passenger seat meets the window. Like you it's not driving me insane, but it is annoying. I'm planning on taking it in for an oil service when it's run in, so going to mention to them then.

Seen a few vids knocking around about the rear passenger window working loose and causing a rattle.

i dont know if it will solve your creak but an easy one to check is the plastic cover under the front bonnet that covers the battery. simply pull the cover off and then refit it.

i had a creak that seemed to be coming from the passenger's side dash, but it turned out to be this plastic cover. i came across this tip on a forum, might have been this one, i forget.

fingers crossed for you !

i've also got a creak coming from inside the driver's side seat belt pillar which comes and goes depending on the road, temperature, humidity... i'm planning on mentioning it at first service.

mine's a 991.2 carrera t.

Thanks all..... booked in at OPC - I love having a full warranty!! I think it is the passenger door card and the rear quarter door card.... we'll see!

I will take the battery cover off and grease before driving to the OPC just in case :) Good tip!!

Thanks

Always a dilemma with a sports car, it's not a 7-series ;)

I either turn the stereo up or increase the volume of the loud pedal. Never asked the dealer to look at any creaks or noises.

it's key that you isolate the location of the cabin creak
