Amir and saab9000 glad your both happy with your purchases. Must apologise for the forum for not welcoming you as newbies. I'm sure you will get a warm welcome when you attend events with your new purchases in the future. Lots going on in London area , Ace cafe etc , make yourself known I'm sure you will get a warm welcome
For me still wouldn't touch Modern Classics with a barge pole, all have own opinions Welcome

Thanks Geoff, I live in NW London so not far from the Ace Cafe but I've never been there which is strange. I'm on the 968 forum and waiting for the next Hatfield meet up and I also do various drives with groups from in and around London.

Will do a hello post in the right section.

It’s a bit irrelevant that someone once bought a car from these Guys and it was okay.....
In my eyes there is huge difference sharing our view / experience / interaction on either an established independent or an OPC versus a bunch of people who seem fit to stretch the law and fail to even trade on the same virtual address ?

Tell me the last time an OPC tried to sell a car then change address or an established Indy tried to mock up a car and try to sell it as another model ! Question

Seem like a bunch of gits to me Hammer

An update, it's well known that negative reviews can be removed if they are not in line with site policy.

This is the 1st time we have had to removed Positive Feedback, as t was deemed to be fake.

Cheeky! I'm sure that was in jest.

I will answer any questions to the inquisition and have even offered to upload the receipt for the car!

However just check me out online if you want to see if I'm real or not. I made a newbie post and I'm sure I will be meeting some of you guys (if I haven't already) at some point.

Love it, a thread with legs, it could run and run.

May end up being more entertaining than George Eaton and Friends Green.

Saab9000 such a nice story shame in a way it was fake.

Watching with interest.

After reading through this thread, these guys make it difficult to trust any traders.

I was interested in a cheap 996 on eBay last week. Unfortunately I missed out on it. The seller had a decent honest advert where they mentioned that the car suffered from a troublesome 2nd gear. The paint was a bit tired in places too.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Porsche-996-911-Coupe-3-4-Carrera-6-Speed-Manual-Gearbox-/173851612167

Fast forward a few days from the original sale and the car is now for sale via for £4k+ more, with no mention of the issues listed by the original owner.

Maybe just undersold in the first instance?!

Quote from the original eBay advert linked to above ...

“Areas for improvement are as follows;
Gearbox is slow between 1st and 2nd until the engine is up to temperature. This seems to be a common issue with 996s and once warm, the change is fine.
I think it is still on the original silencers. There is a bit of corrosion on the joints, but they have sailed through the MOT over the time I have had the car, but will need replaced in the next couple of years.
The paintwork on the drivers door has some marks in the laquer. These may polish out or have localised touch up. I was happy to live with them as it is original paint.
Rear tyre are past their best and will need replacement.”

It’s does seem to be a decent original 996 but interesting to see if THE dealer Grin has addressed the gearchange and rear tyres. The paintwork referred to on the drivers door was presumably corrected with a polish Question

I spotted that one on eBay.. I'll say this for them, they certainly know how to present a car for sale and the photos and description are very convincing. £14999 still seems a decent price.

Should note that if you zoom in on the paperwork you'll see an invoice from Jan 2019 saying the bolts are stripped on the split rims and new wheels are recommended. Not the end of the world but a potential considerable outlay along with tyres.
